Mick and some guitar??
he's using a Sessionette SS amp, lower lefthand side.

Wow, cool picture! Don't recall the make for sure (was it Tokai, these aluminium guitars like the Talbot?),but these guitars where used by Kiss in the mid-80's.

Mathijs

You had some cool hints there.

Staccato guitars were conceived in 1978 the first was cast in aluminium, all guitars after 001 were cast in magnesium alloy. At the time both Travis Bean and Kramer guitars were also cast in aluminium, Staccato was the first and only production magnesium guitars made to this day. The first 21 guitars made by staccato were interchangeable neck models.

A prototype bass was built in Norfolk England in 1983 and a business partnership was formed to produce Staccato guitars, at the old school house in Woodbastwick, Norfolk.
The partners on equal shares were Pat Townshend, Bill Wyman, Chris and Mick Jagger.

The most famous and most seen M.G. bass was the chrome plated E.M.G. pickup model, specially commissioned by Gene Simmonds from the U.S.A. of mega band "Kiss". seen firing rockets from the headstock in the crazy, crazy nights video. the chrome bass and also a standard M.G. bass painted gold which Gene bought from us first, can be seen in many Kiss music videos, Gene liked the Anglo Saxon look!

Why did Mick start playing guitar in his live shows? I don't think he did that before 1975, or did he?

Aha! Staccato it is! I now remember it from early 80's guitar mags, didn't know Jagger and Wyman where involved.

Jagger's slide on This House is Empty and Blue is quite nice. I wouldn't say better than anything Brian has done, but certainly as effective.

that's jagger playing the slide on "Blue," not someone like Jimmy Rip? whoa... now I'll look more kindly on what I called a bland arrangement.

and do you mean "This Place Is Empty," on ABB? how do you know it's not RW?

Because the liner notes say it is Jagger.

oops! I'll have to get an official copy of the album to look at the credits some time... seems like an essential reference for the "Mick Jagger as Musician" thread.

Mick might be catching up with Brian by way of technical skill after some 40+ years of playing and practicing. But Brian was of course the far more influential guitarist. Also, Brian was only 22 when he recorded Little Red Rooster, the one track that turned on an entire generation of musicians to blues slide guitar way back in 1964.

If I am not wrong that photo was shot at the Milano 2003 licks date. Absolutely fantastic concert and guitar section on fire!

I stand corrected. We all learn: that's Danny Saber on slide guitar on Blue, not Jagger.

It's very cheap to compare Jaggers todays playing to Brian's playing...
He died 42 years ago,and turns in his grave reading such a post.

I don't know if Jagger has a go-to electric.....
But he's always had those beautiful Gibson acoutstics...particularly the Hummingbird.
His raucous work on the Strat for Some Girls is prrof enought for me that the man can rock and roll with abandon on guitar. That album would have been completely different without his playing.
But he seems like an acoustic player to me.
