Top 4 requests for songs they've never done live
Posted by: mr. pitiful ()

If Mick asked you to name 4 songs they've never performed on stage that would be fantastic live, which 4 would you tell him. Mine would be 1.Time waits for no one.2. Threw the lonely nights 3. Let it loose. 4. Soul Survivor.

here's ten :

You Cant Catch Me
Slave
Time Waits for No One
Let It Loose
Soul Survivor
Dangerous Beauty
Winter
Out of Time (hard to believe theyve never done this one!)
Dear Doctor
Comin' Down Again

Something approaching 40% of the Stones' officially released output has NEVER been performed in concert

hmmmn. yes Soul Survior, Let It Loose (in another post, I was saying how It be hard to recaputre the sound of the backing vocals if they did it live, but It still like to see that one). SHe was Hot.... Slave or Pretty Beat Up would be good. I just realized I need to start listening their old stuff again. I should have more stuff from the Brian Jones Era. Out of Time would be good. Mother, Baby. that would be crazy! Jigsaw Puzzle.

Seems hard to believe that nearly half of their catalogue hasn't been performed live! I would, though, especially like to see Slave done live.

If they did mother baby, they should include horns.

yeah..a lot of those songs would work better in a smaller venue (particularly the funkier ones) although personally I'd love to see You Cant Catch Me on a b-stage similar to the way they did Little Queenie or Route 66 on BTB/No Security

yeah, true dat. club types of songs work really well on the b-stage too. You cant catch me is not one Im familair with. Is that on the London Years?

Pretty good list there Gazza...
but quite honestly I think Winter and Time Waits For No One would had been a disappointment to the studio versions.
Not just because of the "guitar-playing" (as somebody thinks), but also because of the whole atmosphere and sober/sterile/drug-free/expensive environment.
I'd love to see them do newer songs like "Too Much Blood", "Too Tight" and "She Saw Me Coming" as well as the older ones....Slave, Soul Survivor, etc.
Songs that don't demand a certain mood....just a lot of energy.

No..it was never on a single. Its a Chuck Berry cover which is on their 2nd album

On a trivia note, Chuck later sued John Lennon because he stole the opening couplet and used them as the first line on the Beatles' "Come Together". As a settlement agreement, Lennon covered a couple of Berry songs on his "Rock n Roll" album.

intersting... I did NOT know that.

You know what would be a good song to bring back (theyve done it before but only LONG time ago)... MOaNA!! I think they might have done that one at a club gig or two in the 80s or something.

Good choices! Now we need a nice woman to seduce Mick, and mention those songs during the night.

I second Tod's motion, and add the following:

- 2000 Man
- I Am Waiting

Now who gets the job of seducing mick?

They never played Ain't No Use in Crying?

Why not?

I'll do 4 requests from each decade:

1960's:
MOTHER'S LITTLE HELPER (will never do it cause of the "getting old" reference)
EMPTY HEART - I never hear this one mentioned. If they played it much more raw and rough (like IF YOU CAN'T ROCK ME) it would kick ass IMHO.
BACK STREET GIRL - this one could be great. Be the second slow number (yep, bring back 2 slow ones, not just 1)
2000 MAN - another great TSMR number (half that album is great). Again, has an age reference "Is your brain still flashin' / like it did when you were young" so will NEVER hear it. If the boys had any..

1970's
TIME WAITS FOR NO ONE
TILL THE NEXT TIME WE SAY GOODBYE
WINTER
SOUL SURVIVOR - a medley with the similar MUST BE HELL would be interesting

1980's
SHE WAS HOT - very surprised this one has not been played live yet
IT MUST BE HELL - as mentioned above, medley with SOUL SURVIVOR
PAIN OF LOVE - dump TD and do this one
HAD IT WITH YOU - not sure this would work live. One of the best on DIRTY WORK

1990's
HIGHWIRE - great one that would be great live
BREAK THE SPELL - slow it down, makes a great blues
BABY BREAK IT DOWN - not sure it would work live but a good song IMO
LOW DOWN - same as above

2000's
Numerous songs on ABB good enough to do live that haven't been tried yet PLUS:

FANCYMAN BLUE'S - solid blues number
STEALING MY HEART - best of the 4 new ones on FORTY LICKS IMO
