with ronnie back in rehab, i dont think it would hurt to start a new post with everyone wishing him well. i think we all know someone in our own lives who has battles with alcoholism, and while it is up to the individual to get themselves clean, the support from those around them truly can help. i wish ronnie the best, and that he begins to see his life in a new way. and be thankful for all that he has, and that he doesn't want to waste it. a wonderful supportive wife, great kids, an amazing band, millions of fans around the world who love him and his music. good on you ronnie for admitting you need help, we are here for you.
yeah, ronnie! all the best, old leatherface! nobody plays the guitar like you. nobody has this lyrical, romantic tone AND the rrrrrrrocksound and the reggae, bedrim! Hail to you, mr. wood!
"when I travel coast to coast you' re the hook I miss the most feel on, baby"
Another trip to The Priory? You should get a membership!
I'm a little suprised that he frequents that place. I'm not suggesting it is'nt a repitable clinic, but because it seems to be mainly a haunt for Z-list celebs.
Ronnie, you're such a sweet guy - and you kept the band together with your peace-keeping efforts when the Glimmer Twins fell out with eachother. So thanks! Get well, man! We need you up there on stage with our band. Take care. See you in Milan!
It was reported in Sticky Fingers Journal that he slipped, at least around his birthday - and it seems obvious most likely in Fiji with Keith. I wish Ron all the best,I've been through the mill many times myself, and after drinking/drugging since his teens it is obviouslly very difficult for him. But it can be done, no matter how many slips, and I hope he makes it.
So many thanks for the gifts you have given to us all--incredible work with The Birds, Jeff Beck, Rod, The Faces and, of course, thirty-plus years of the Stones.
Now, be as kind to yourself as you have been to lovers of rock'n'roll. And remember, Just For Today.
Good luck ronnie, well always love ur playing, and the fact that it was you who kept the stones together. I used to be a three pack a week smoker so I now exactly how you feel. Toronto's rooting for you. See you in the fall.
