Biggest Mistake should not have made ABB. But now it's a single?

Biggest Mistake should not have even made A Bigger Bang. Yet, it is going to be a single? What the hell are they thinking?

Are the Stones trying to capture the Matchbox 20/Phil Collins audience?

I like Biggest Mistake. Don't know if I would pick it as a single, but one of my faves on ABB.

Come on now..its not a bad song...not at all..but it sure aint a single..let me DRS.or Laugh..but the golden hits era is long gone anyway and wont come back..so it doesnt matter anyway...BM is a strange funny tune.

A great single would be Under the Radar, maybe with Biggest Mistake as the b-side.

Come on. Oh No, Not you Again,Laugh I Nearly Died and She Saw me Coming are all much better songs and would make much better singles.

I don't think Biggest Mistake is that bad. But, it didn't really fit the album and is clearly not single material.

I rather like it, tho it's far from my favorite on ABB - I can hear somebody thinking it might get airplay on the stations that play Bonnie Raitt, but doubt it will do anything at this late date.

They could release any song from the album, and the single will sell the same.
The third single from B2B (Out Of Control) only charted in one country worldwide: #51 in UK.
Biggest Mistake or whatever could do a bit better than OOC, with luck IMO.

The only parts in the world a single still works are south and central America and Spain and maybe I Italy ..but again for them its an excuse to play it in concert....

I like Biggest Misstake. It's not the best song on the album but its definately ok.

I don't think their choice for a third single matter at all.

I think it is there biggest mistake to make this song there new single.
Get it? Biggest Mistake there biggest mistake... Never mind :-D

I'd hoped that Laugh, i nearly died would be the next one. I love this tune and i think it is commercially a very good one!

Cheers,
Wuudy

Biggest Mistake brings back the country-Stones memories... Dead Flowers, etc
Biggest Mistake is a great song, with typical ron and keith-licks... Yeah I like it a lot!

LIND is the best song on the album but Biggest Mistake is a better 'single'

Its an irrelevant argument anyway as the average singles buyer is a teenager and artists in their 60s dont sell singles. If the Stones released Jumpin Jack Flash for the first time later this month, it wouldnt sell either. Hardly anyone over 20 buys singles.

I really don't understand all this discussion about "Biggest Mistake" being the next single. Who are you to decide which songs the Stones chose to release as a single? I'm sure they know what to do.

BM does not fit on ABB? I doubt it. Otherwise Dead Flowers wouldn't fit on Sticky Fingers or Faraway Eyes wouldn't on Soem Girls or Blinded by Love wouldn't on Steel Wheels. It's a typical country-like Stones song. And there are many people I know who really like that song. So do I.

We're entitled to have an opinion on their choice, right?

I think BS is BS !

Like a POOR MJ solo track.

I have my own version of ABB burnt anyway and it's 11 tracks long including the 2 bonus tracks.

Lke Voodoo Lounge this album COULD have been great. Where is the quality control ?

You peolpe call your selves enlightend fans then pan everything. Then tell me what I should like and dislike. Complain about the war horses then complain about the new stuff. You really do take the fun out of it.And show no knowledge of which you speak. Its ok though cause it almost all over now anyway, then you will have to find a new band to bitch about.

One person's 'quality' is another person's 'garbage'.

Its hardly the first time that a song on a Stones album has a feel about something that could have been on one of Mick or Keith's solo albums. Considering the fact they tend to write separately, its a fine line. Theres no set definition as to what a Stones song should sound like. the only criteria is whether its good enough. 'Biggest Mistake'IMO is one of the better tracks on the album.

Why is it these fan sites are filled with complaints about the very subject they claim to enjoy. Its ticket prices too high or too low. The set list is wrong, too many war horses. Not enough new stuff. On and on and on.AS Keithonce said music hits your ear drums and you either like it or you don't. Simple. Im just glad the complainers on these sites don't actually have input to the management of this band. Other wise they would probably be done long ago. Not only do I enjoy Biggets Mistake, it sure is relevent right now isn't it.The end of this joy ride is in site. Why not enjoy it while it last? What will you do when its over?

I love the song and I like the fact that they are reaching out to a slightly different audience! They already hAVE us old faithful fans but with BIGGEST MISTAKE they stand a very good chance of picking up a new audience. A wise move, IMO.

In this country(UK) the only station that will play a new stones record is Radio 2. They love ballads so it stands the best chance of getting airplay over here even though there are stronger songs on the album.

BIGGEST MISTAKE is not among my personal favourites on ABB, though not a bad song, but this is very subjective anyway, so i got no problem with their selcetion! As someone already stated, for the large public it doesn´t matter which is their 3rd single, so who cares (with the exception of the harcore fans!). Anyhow, it would be interesting to know which are the critera to select a single.

As to the point about who buys singles, these days airplay is the biggest factor in how a single charts, at least in the US. The 2003 "Sympathy For The Devil" single on Abkco was # 1 in single sales, but did not even reach the Billboard Top 100.
