Re: Biggest Mistake should not have made ABB. But now it's a single?

>>As to the point about who buys singles, these days airplay is the biggest factor in how a single charts, at least in the US. The 2003 "Sympathy For The Devil" single on Abkco was # 1 in single sales, but did not even reach the Billboard Top 100.

The SFTD's remix reached #97 on the hot 100, anyway only 8,600 copies sold in US were enough for that #1 position on the singles sales chart. The physical single market is dead, the #40 single in England is selling 1,500-2,000 copies each week, the 10% of the Stones fan base in UK could push the new single on the top 40 easily like SOL/RJ and RFD. Last week, the #70 single in England sold 800 copies.

I like it. There are not many great catchy singles on the album but this is as close as it gets besides SOL. I agree with asmallerbang in the UK its their best chance to get any airplay...

I see where you're coming from but,if they had taken the '67 set list & kept repeating the majority of it over and over for future tours, they probably would have been done long ago.Why step up the repetition now?Quite a few people prefer as many as 13 tracks from ABB(or more if you include the two tracks from the bonus dvd) to Biggest Mistake & are just wondering why it was chosen as a single. It's no big deal.
