This is current...lunchtime today. I wouldn't expect Ms Hall to be part of any cover up by the Stones publicity machine. She's a great friend of Keith's Mrs and ought to be better informed than most.

[And it isn't entirely surprising that Keith's family are with him is it ?
You might not fly half way around the world if your dad bumped his head...but if we was to have an operation...no matter how small...you probably would.]

"Rolling Stone Keith Richards is "doing very well" following surgery after his fall from a palm tree, according to model Jerry Hall.

The former wife of Stones front man, Mick Jagger, said she was in email contact with Richards' family, who are with him in hospital in New Zealand.

The 62-year-old guitarist had an operation on Monday to relieve pressure on his brain, but has already been "up and about chatting, and phoning New York" according to a spokesman for the band.

Hall, 49, speaking at the London launch of a helpline for victims of child abuse said: "I heard that he is doing very well.

"We are very upset about it. Mick is on holiday at the moment so he is hearing the same news as we are."

What does Ms. Hall tries to say in that last comment? That "Mick is on holiday at the moment so he is hearing the same news as we are"?

That Mr. Jagger just enjoys his holiday and does not give a damn about the condition (brain surgery, for god sake!) of his life time friend, and his most important business partner with whom he should start a billion Euro tour in few weeks time? Perhaps sending few e-mails like Ms. Hall? Is that what is indicated here???? I don't buy this. I hate "deep throats" like her and their selfish motives.

Don't know anything about the relationship between Mrs. Richards and Ms. Hall (Bockris book doesn't make that look very warm, though), but I might imagine the following conversation to have happened:
- "Darling, Jerry e-mailed and asked about your condition".
- "Say that bitch that I am okay so that she will leave me alone".

RS.com:
05.10.06 Keith Richards Continues To Improve
Contrary to stories in newspapers in New Zealand and the UK, Keith Richards did not undergo a second operation. The first and only operation was done on Monday, May 8 and was 100% successful. There was no brain damage. He continues to improve as expected.

The Rolling Stones "A Bigger Bang European tour" will begin in June with details to follow shortly.

Yeah - the Stones camp is saying: he's fine - He's fine....

I'll believe it when he get's back up on stage!

Some of those reports stated he blacked out and had major headaches...
from the looks of those pictures of him in the Sun I don't know???

I'm worried and the Stones "official mouthpieces" have shown me they are not
trustworthy...

HOPE all is well with Keith, but I'm wondering??????????????????

Wouldn't Keith be going through some serious nicotine/alcohol withdrawal in the hospital?

From AFP, quoting Jerry Hall as saying that "Keith is doing very well." Released a half hour ago,

"Wouldn't Keith be going through some serious nicotine/alcohol withdrawal in the hospital?"

Suppose he might...but that's the kind of shit we know Keith CAN deal with.
All we can really do is wait and cross our fingers.

Lets hope and assume that Keith will [at some point] be fine and fully recovered.
Beyond that, the issue with the tour is a bigger deal for some of us than others I suppose. The thing is that some of us are bigger Keith fans than we are Stones fans. Given the choice between seeing the stones without Keith and seeing the Winos...we'd pick the Winos every time.

Jerry Hall said:

I know when I'm upset and worried about a long-time friend, I go on vacation. Huh?!?!?!?

Re: Keith in Hospital

Mick was probably already on vacation when it happened (as was Keith, lest we forget)

I would take the fact that Mick doesnt feel the need to rush halfway around the world to hold Keith's hand at this 'bedside vigil' that "The Sun" seem to have made a hospital visit from his family out to be, to be a sign that his condition isnt as serious as the more disreputable type of tabloid journalists would like us to believe it is

Its just the usual Mick bashing.... no-ones mentioned any of the other Stones not turning up or other famous musicians/friends.....

I'd like to think that it means things aint that bad......

>> when I'm upset and worried about a long-time friend <<

ahem: Mick went on vacation well before Keith had any accident, and we don't know where he is now.
these people need privacy and time now. i'm sure she knows better than to drop any hints about where he is at the moment.

Keith, be well - all the way, baby, all the way.

I agree. Mick of course knows everything that's going on, along with Keith's family and Ron & Charlie (and Bill probably too). We don't know this, and if I think about it, it doesn't seem to be all that bad when none of the other Stones are there. If it was REALLY serious they would have. I bet my right nut and 3 bucks on that.

Top notch post by the way Gaz. It's good that someone has an eye to see the things we mortals do not.

yep...plus now you mention it - where did Ronnie go? wasnt he with Keith when the accident happened?

His absence since Keith was flown to Auckland has been somewhat overlooked. Had his friend's life in danger I somehow doubt he would have left.

In Ron Woods absence - I hope he is not in Richmond practicng his open tunings.

Ronnie's best work is in Open tunings ;^)
Witness "Overture for Beginners", I wish he'd play like that more often today.

Oh yes his standard playing requires 5 fingers and not 2 so I guess I stand

Didn't Mick remain in NZ to film scenes of his upcoming TV Show before departing for parts unknown?

Mick told that female reporter that went undercover as a minor fan and ended up hanging out with him for 4 on/off days (she either worked for an Aussie paper or NZ one. Most of the IORR gang ragged on her heavily) that he was taking a small vacation/trip to Cambodia/Laos after leaving Auckland. That's what I remember.....

There is no doubt in my mind that where ever the band members are they know exactly whats is going on. Especially Jagger. There is no way he walks in the door from parts unknown as says"so whats been going on?"
