Jagger's BLUE
Posted by: Rip This ()

I just heard Jagger's song Blue recently and have to say I was a little surprised at how beautiful and complex and rich this song is..........and no Keith....no Rick Rubin....................if Mick can still write like that then he really is the backbone of this band afterall.

NO KIDDING! It's what I've been saying for years! Keith has NOTHING in his catalog that compares to BLUE and much of GODDESS for that matter; NOT just MY OPINION, a pure fact.

Blue is good, but to say that Keith has nothing like it.......... that's beside the truth IMO.

BLUE is VERY Stones sounding - maybe there's a guest or 2 .....

Debra you make an interesting point.......since '77/Some Girls it's been steadily and primarily Mick......... and his solo stuff in total is outstanding compared to KR........I can't get through Main Offfender if my life depended on it.

Yeah, Meg left me for Davis Letterman and his stupid pencils. She tells me she likes the way he makes her laugh. The last couple of months I'm begging her to come back and dominate me like the good old times!

'Hate it when You Leave' -- one of the most beautiful pieces of music Keith has ever made. Transcendant!

It's all personal preference, right? I personally, cannot get through a single Mick solo song. Give me Talk is Cheap and Main Offender anyday and turn them up LOUD. Blue is not a bad song but the music is too polished for me--now if Ron, Keith and Charlie were on it we might have something.

It's a great song. It should've been on the album. I also like If Things Had Been Different. That's a good one. Goddess in the Doorway is such a damn good album. So good. I too think Mick is the backbone of the Stones and that his solo work is far superior to keith's best.

Good for ya Greg; myself I consider Goddess just
another polished radio-sell out disco-like crashed hit album.
Keith is for us who lurvs rock'n'roll.
Plus his Hate It When You Leave beats any Jagger ballad any day.
Have to get Jagger (& Krawitz) credits for God Gave Me... though.

Beautifull song!!!!
I love it. I have it on some promo dvd of Goddess and i always put it on repeat for a long while. I just Jagger's voice on it!

Cheers,
Wuudy

<Keith has NOTHING in his catalog that compares to

Wow, that's fresh! You mean musically or quality-wise?

As far as quality goes:

You Don't Move Me
Make No Mistake
Wicked As It Seems
Hate It When You Leave
Locked Away
Take It So Hard
How I Wish
Big Enough
Whip It Up
999
Words Of Wonder

IMO, an entire album of songs in the same quality (or better).

Blue is the strongest song of Goddess, and the pre-production was done by Matt Clifford! Ooops!? Usually I don`t like the stuff which was done with Matt, except this one...

Re: Jagger's BLUE

As far as ballads are concerned, I believe that Mick has been writing more substantial songs, even though I really love "Locked Away", "Make No Mistake", "Hate It When You Leave" or even "Slipping Away". Most Stones ballads were written by Mick, some by Mick and Keith but hardly by Keith alone. He IS the ballad man (listen to the Toronto tapes or We Had it All) but most of these ballads were written by other musicians.

By the way, can anyone post "Blue" for download?

But on the other hand: Biggest Mistake vs. This Place Is Empty. No contest. TPIE all the way.

Listen to Keith's 2 albums and you will think the same about him.
