I think this is the bit that a lot of us with good pitch seats are indeed worried about; I'm in block A5 rows 3 and 1 for both shows. The best seats I'll ever have had at a Stones show, and it would be a real shame to lose out on them because of this. Fingers croosed we don't.

The fact the RFU lost a few million quid because of Englands poor show in the six nations means they will be delighted to have the stones

how did they lose 'a few million quid' because of poor performances?

By not putting more than 55,000 tickets on sale for each Wembley show.

On Shidoobee someone has said that only 80,000 ofteh Wembley tickets were released so far anyhow...shrewd on Cohl's part.

the stadium holds 90,000 for football. For concerts with seats on the pitch, its probably closer to about 72,000

Maybe this has been in depth discussed, but how 160,000 people can be 100,000.

That doesn't make sense.

Just curious so i went to look and Ticketmaster selling tickets for Tuesday 22nd Aug at Wembley still! Just got offered 2 for block C1!

I guess they still have capacity even for a (slightly) smaller venue

I for one am very happy we have no cancellations, we have no rescheduling. The only hassle I see with Twickenham is everyone at the train station trying to get back to central london at once after the concert...god that was miserable last time.

The Pitch has to be basically the same size. So I do not think anyone with pitch seats has to worry.

03.31.06 Twickenham Takes Over Rolling Stones London Shows
THE ROLLING STONES CONFIRM THAT ALL TICKETS ARE VALID AND SHOWS WILL REMAIN ON THE SAME DATES IN AUGUST

London - Friday, 31st March 2006

Concert promoters for The Rolling Stones A Bigger Bang World Tour, announced today that The Rolling Stones London shows on Sunday, 20th August and Tuesday, 22nd August 2006 will now take place at Twickenham Stadium.

This follows the announcement from Wembley Ltd this morning that Wembley Stadium will not be completed in time. Although The Stones are disappointed not to have played the new Wembley they are excited by the switch to Twickenham which sees them return to the venue they played two sold out shows in 2003 to unprecedented critical acclaim.

The good news for Stones ticket-holders is that the Bigger Bang Concerts will take place on exactly the same dates this summer. All London ticket purchasers will now be issued tickets for Twickenham. The distribution information will be announced shortly.

Anticipation for the tour is already running at an all-time high following the incredible critical and box-office response to the Stones' North American shows. 'A Bigger Bang' world tour is currently rolling through Japan & Australia. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts will be opening their European tour at Barcelona's Olympic Stadium on 27th May 2006.

The Rolling Stones A Bigger Bang European Tour is presented by American Express.

Rolling Stones World Tour 2005/2006 is presented by Concert Productions International and The Next Adventure and produced by WPC Piecemeal Inc.

THE ROLLING STONES A BIGGER BANG UK SHOWS ARE NOW:
Sunday, Aug 20 Twickenham, London
Tuesday, Aug 22 Twickenham, London
Friday, Aug 25 Hampden Park, Glasgow
Sunday, Aug 27, Don Valley Stadium, Sheffield
Tuesday Aug 29 Millennium Stadium, Cardiff

Thanks. But still not bright enough to understand 1 + 1 = 3. More exactly 1+1= 1.5. Got to think about it. Maybe one of my sons could explain that to me. The New Mathematics School I guess.

To think that London got the olympics 2012. Wonder if it will be ready then?

Re: Latest News From Wembley

phd -

the logical explanation is they didnt put all of the Wembley tickets on sale

It would appear that Bon Jovi and Take That both did something similar, because the Milton Keynes Bowl has a capacity which would be closer to the capacity of Twickenham than Wembley

There would have been less problems with getting a licence for a 3rd show at that venue, yet neither act has felt it necessary to do so.

I've booked a goddess of my own for the weekend. If I have any energy left, I'll try and remember the wines, oils and a few extra goddesses. Expect a float to arrive outside the Cabbage Patch mid afternoon on the Sunday!

Don't be silly now, OF COURSE it won't. But never mind, the Olympics can always (a) be moved to another venue, and (b) postponed till .......... say 2014 ?

Put only 70% or 65 % of tickets on sale appears to me a pure non-sense an advised promoter as Mr.Cohl would never go into. Fixed Costs, i.e. at first rent of Wembley II are so high, I suppose, that it is unimaginable. If it were true, i.e. forecast of 110,000 tix for London, they would have got directly to Twickenham. Why so rapidly put a second date after heralding that the first one was sold out if it was at only 50 %. No, no, there is something wrong with the figures.

Re: Latest News From Wembley

Cant imagine theyd be liable for 'rent' for a venue which - through no fault of their own - theyve been obliged to cancel.

reason they didnt go to Twickenham in the first place is because of the 'prestige' with playing Wembley - simple!! Plus, its easier to get a licence for Wembley than Twickenham. Putting a second date on sale is an exercise in hype and marketing. Few stadium shows anywhere are REALLY sold out - and at various times new tickets have become available.

Not sure where you get this 50% figure from. The capacity of Twickenham is about 70% of Wembley. Like I said, theyre not the only act who have obviously held back ticket sales for these shows. On the contrary, quite a smart move by Cohl and the band's booking agents.

This will be a business case for all the Harvard, London School of Economics of the world. Mr.Cohl will sure be welcome as Profesor Emeritus. Not so certain that play in 70 % of a Stadium is prestige ( 55/75). But you are right. Nevertheless, this machiavelism is astonishing. To end, I just want to say that it is the first time in my Stones Fan "career" that I hear that you do not put on sale 100 % of available seats. But as you write, that should be due to the fact that it has been well-known for monthes by insiders that Wembley II would not never be ready on time.

Re: Latest News From Wembley

Regarding the number of tickets available for the new Wembley you should take into account that there are 15,000 corporate premium seats which have been sold on a 10 year basis. These seat holders are given first priority for concerts and would not have been included in the general sale.

Got it. In Stones words and current world , sold out mean : maximum 2/3 third sold ( 50/75). " Don't lie to me..."
