Hey, this isn't Stones, but it's damn close!! Clapton rocks. Anyone seen him or gonna see him this tour? I'm gonna see him in Rotterdam. And to make it even cooler the opening band is Robert Cray!! I've never seen him before. I can't wait!!

It depends on what version of EC shows up... he has like about 5 incarnations... if you get the Cream/ Dominoes/ blues version then you're in for a treat.

I want to see him with the reincarnated CREAM this summer! I bet that's what he's talking about because Clapton announced a month ago that Cream would be on the road again!

It's not what I was talking about. I'm talking about his solo tour...

Any idea if he's coming to US or Canada. BTW I saw Robert Cray at the Hard Rock in Vegas about 5 years ago-if he still has it he'll be great..........

I heard he's completely revamped his band, kepts Chris Stainton on keyboards and Doyle Bramhall Jr. on guitar, but got Willie Weeks on bass, Steve Jordan on drums, and added another guitar player, Derek Trucks from the Allman Bros!

I'd expect a much more rocking/bluesy tour then the past several...

I hope so.

And erm.. Steve Jordan: yes indeed, Steve "Keith Richards and the X-Pensive Winos, John Mayer trio and Hail Hail Rock 'n' Roll" Jordan!

By the way, I heard the 2001 tour Rider something CD... the band sounded like crap. It was 99% synthesizer and 1% guitar.

Derek Trucks? That's amazing, this kid absolutely cooks on guitar.

Well I am going to see him in Budapest on 18th of July.I have never seen him before so it's gonna be quite a thrill for me.
Hope he will play a lot of stuff of Derek and Dominos and Cream.

I would put his Unplugged record up against *anything* the Stones did in the 90s.

He's the best "new" guitarist on the scene in 20 years. Seeing him paired with Clapton will resemble the the D&D days for sure....I really hope this tour makes it to the US.

What a band! This should rock!

Clapton has been pretty erratic of late. I saw him in Nashville in like 99 and it was truly awful. There was a string section playing on "Crossroads"...I sh@t you not! THe last time I saw him he was back in the proper blues groove and had Billy Preston (Stones content) in the band!

Derek Trucks is amazing. If you haven't been listening to the latest incarnation of the Allman Brothers with Warren Haynes and Derek, give 'em a spin. Their latest live album (One Way Out) smokes! This is the best they have sounded since Dickey and Duane prowled the stage.

Derek Trucks is one smoking guitarist.
I saw him open for Joe Satriani at Irving Plaza in '97.

Interesting choice by Clapton--but he is picking someone, who at this point, could probably blow him away--especially on slide.

Any chance of seeing Old Love with Clapton and Cray?

Any way to confirm if Derek Trucks is on board??

He's gonna play out here in California soon or just did, remember noticing
his band listed at one of the nightclubs????

Trucks is definitely in the touring band. That's confirmed. But, there are no gigs planned for California at this time.

There's nothing in the States yet unfortunately.

Re: OT: Eric Clapton tour
Date: March 3, 2006 22:36

It's good to see Clapton is back at it.He said that his world tour a couple of years back was going to be his last one.

Re: OT: Eric Clapton tour

but, then Clapton usually does the States after Europe - the opposite of the Stones, so I'm sure we'll see him out before year's end. He also has a new album in the can which should come out later in the year (features Trucks on it, too), so that's further evidence the tour will continue...
