Stonestod, you're so much wiser than that T&A guy. Thanx for the info.I didn't know he did it in reverse.

Reptile,
Where are tickets available for the UK shows? I am going to be in London on the night of May 17, but at the UK TIcketmaster site, there is no mention of his shows.

Given that he's coming fresh off a very successful if limited Cream reunion, I would expect a good smattering of his "roots" stuff on this tour, but you never know. Will look forward to reviews and setlists...

BTW, EC's got an unmistakable "beautiful" guitar sound

Well that will be some trick, Clapton to play a SOLO tour and also do Cream on the side! I heard Cream was going on the road for sure in the summer! Maybe Clapton decided to add on a solo thing after Cream ends. Looks like ole Eric will be one tired guy!

Another pairing of E.C. and a great Southern guitarist...

He keeps returning there... Duane Allman, Carl Radle, now Derek Trucks.

Lots of shows are already sold out, but some shows still have tickets left. Check here:

Trucks is in EC's Band but only for the European tour - for now. Trucks participation in any USA shows will be dictated by his involvement with the ABB.

Up to date info on the tour and all can be found @ whereseric.com

EC's 2004 tour was really, really good. A return to form if you will. Many lost faith after the 2001 tour that was lame if you were going to hear blues/rock guitar. EC fired it back up though in the Fall of 2003 Japan shows and continued to rock and play great guitar through out the 2004 tour. Doyle Bramlett is also an excellent guitarist and he will be in the band for the upcoming tour.

I am traveling from the USA for 4 shows @ the RAH in May..........I am stoked for some outstanding blues/rock. Also looking forward to some outstanding encores with hopefully Robert Cray joining in as Robert is the opening act.

I live in Budapest, but I'm not going to see him. It costs more than the stones-show in brno, and I don't like his new album.

Well unfortunately if you only go by the latest album "Back Home" just hairdressers and elevator operators would show up. It is pretty lame.

EC played with a lot of fire and emotion in the Fall of 2003 Japan shows and continued to rock and play great guitar through out the 2004 tour. EC's 2004 tour was really, really good. Doyle Bramlett is also an excellent guitarist and he will be in the band for the upcoming tour as he was during the 2004 tour.

I just listened to his new album. Sorry to say, but it's rubbish. Well, let's hope for warhorses then. Layla etc.

I agree, Reptile - Back Home stinks. But, he's got a newer one coming out that has more promise based on what I've read -and having Derek on it can't hurt.

StonesTod, Derek Trucks rocks, as you know. Keep a close eye on this kid. He's down to earth, unassuming, and born with a gift. Plays rock or jams jazz style, with or without the slide. He could do it with one hand tied behind his back, but why bother? Such theatrics turn people off. He's cut from that same child virtuoso cloth that Steve Winwood and Charley Sexton were cut from, only with lots more fabric.

im just tired of hearing his pathetic, theorized renditions of the blues, also anyone that thinks those "cream" shows earlier last year were the cream from the 60's please listen again... drugs really harmed him, after rehab he forgot how to play, leaving us with that weak sound...at least he has his health

Re: OT: Eric Clapton tour

hmm. well, i won't go so far as to say the Cream '05 sounds alot like Cream '68, the man has clearly not lost his chops. And, although perhaps a matter of personal taste, much of what he's done since the Cream days has been as good or better. the dominoes period was my favorite and I actually quite like much of the Tulsa Era for him as well... saying he "sucks" is a rather ignorant comment, IMHFO.....

I like Clapton's music up through Derek and the Dominoes, then a few albums and parts of albums from the rest of the '70s, but he totally lost me in the '80s with synthesizers, Phil Collins, etc., and since then I've lost track. Has he done anything worthwhile in the studio since 1979?

Hey Ohno, he had a pretty cool album out a couple of years ago called Reptile, I think. I hear you though about the synth and Ernest T. Collins. Reptile is okay.

and rocksoffKR, it wasn't drugs that harmed him, it was the lack of them. Never has he been more edgy and inventive than those early days with Cream, Dominoes, and, god, those sessions for 461 Ocean Blvd.

the blues albums, From the Cradle and the two recent Robert Johnson cover albums are fabulous...in all sincerity, studio fare has NEVER been a forte of his - but his live affairs have usually been top-shelf

"From the Cradle", is a studio CD from 1994 and IMHO is probably as good as anything from anyone in the last 10 years or so.

"Some critics and fans were disappointed by Clapton's post-rehab efforts, feeling that he had abandoned his former guitar-heavy approach in favor of a more laid-back and vocal-conscious one."

obviously the drug use coincided with his best work, the drugs helped, im saying after rehab he couldnt play

kind of makes you want to take up drug abuse and guitar lessons as a hobby, doesn't it, my impressionable scaly skinned friend?

Well don't, please. The heroin and coke back then was of the artistic, creativity inducing type. The heroin and coke nowadays is mostly of the rob your Mother and hide from your landlord type. A very different buzz, I'm told.

I wasn't that crazy about Me and Mr. Johnson, despite loving the originals he covered on there. I don't know, I thought somehow he managed to make Robert Johnson a bit boring. Is there a second Robert Johnson cover album?

I bought From The Cradle when it came out in 1994, listened to it about three times, shrugged and have never picked it up again. I've got it on now and am digging Blues Before Sunrise, tho, so I may have to re-evaluate this one. Cool, I have been looking for some "new" music to listen to.

YEs - the second one is much better, too, for reasons unknown. It was released with a pretty cool DVD of the making of the albums. Good stuff.

Good attitude...that's happened to me on many occasions! LOL
