Those first recordings are the holy grail. Just to hear them in their infancy.

I really don’t care about yet another recording of Midnight Rambler.

Apart from the Gomelsky Crawdaddy recording, I would think Stu's memorial in 86 would be the holy grail, although I read no one recorded it. Perhaps individual songs got filmed?

It was reported several places that McCartney filmed it, but that has been denied by people who were there.

I would be surprised if they release Paris 1976 film. They prepared a full deluxe release of a compilation of the Paris gigs but could not reach an agreement with the estate of the original producer, and several tapes were missing. They dropped the release in the end.

And I never liked the gigs very much...Give me Knebworth any time!

Mathijs

The best for me: How was filmed the intro of KR on Street Fighting man in Paris 76. It's magical and his playing was perfect.

for me the love-you-live side 4 would be perfect with street fighting man instead of sympathy, the ending of jjflash and then the inro from keith for street f.man ...

How about the release of the LP Automatic Changer, which was an early version of Let It Bleed [LP] with different track listings, mixes?

A full filmed concert with great sound of a 1972or1973 concert
.LikeMSG 1972,Melbourne 1973or Berlin 1973.Of course none probably exists. Also any unreleased songs that Mick Taylor, Brian ,or Ry Cooder played on at theLet it Bleed sessions.

Perhaps Matt Lee could throw some light on the matter. He may know what exists and what doesn’t and, without betraying confidences, if any of these holy grails are likely to be heard by the rest of us.

Some may be in private hands and, in a way, you can understand the reluctance to make them public because they will be bootlegged and on every rarities issue for ever more, just like the Little Boy Blue stuff, and who listens to that these days?

Is it known how many recorded concerts they have or is it impossible?

I would love a demo-box release. Very early versions of well-known Stones classics. Starting from te very beginning, with different lyrics or no lyrics at all, to eventually the version we all know. That would be my Holy Stones Grail.

Honky Tonk Women, Under My Thumb, Angie, JJF, Midnight Ramber... That kind of stuff.

That.. And an official release of my very first concert in Landgraaf 1995 Holland. I'm willing to spend money on digital downloads of all the shows that I attended. Just the soundboard recording in FLAC format. Give it to me and take my money!

Aren't all the 'modern era' Stones shows 'professionally' recorded? Whether that goes as far back as the Steel Wheels and Urban Jungle tours, I couldn't say.

As far back as 1973.

My holy grail would be video (they filmed it) and audio of the Licks Enmore Theatre show. Not to brag, but I’d be the star…right bum cheek on the stage for much of the show. Keith side.

The three NY-concerts in 69, the five LA-Concerts 1975, all professionally recorded and mixed.

L.A. January 18th, 1973 Nicaraguan benefit concert gig in full soundboard, is now my holy grail. That version of No Expectations in particular. Smoking versions of Route 66, It´s All Over now, and Stray Cat Blues among others.

I don't have a Holy Grail. Not realy.
I just want them to release something from the 1970 tour, the unreleased 1972 live album, Paris 1976 and/or Knebworth, something from the European Urban Jungle Tour like Barcelona and as a bonus 7th of July included and the Toronto 2002 Light the Fuse stuff and maybe Glastonbury 2013.

Since we don't have any of it in good sound, I'd like something well recorded from the '66 and '67 tours. Maybe they could do the digital magic they did to the BBC tapes to bring up what exists into a listenable experience. Got Live If You Want It is exciting in places but really lacking fidelity wise.

I agree. This one just for the varied setlist at the time would be considered a holy grail release among hard core Stones fans.

i think they used the same or similar equipment to tape the 66 shows that they used in 65 (please someone more knowledgeable correct me if i'm wrong) and i think the live in england 1965 album sounds fantastic

if they can achieve that quality of sound with the tapes from the 66 shows i'd be over the moon personally
