Thanks for the report wickerman, I was beginning to think that there were security reasons that prevent people from even talking about the actual rehearsals

Asside from Chanel being "new" , the GS intro maybe needed some thought & attention anyway.

Sometimes it's great ..but on other occasions a bit too shambolic...

Agree with this. Keith’s fingers are just not nimble enough to play the intricate parts of this song anymore, incl most of the intro. I’d prefer they drop it.

Keith's perfectly capable of playing the intro to GS...

..so long as he keeps it simple and doesn't attempt the fingering that's become more difficult over the years.

Keith's adapted his playing very well to allow for the reduced flexibility in some of his digits ....

I think the trouble is, that in the heat of battle, he kind of forgets and his instincts sometimes take him to places his fingers aren't so keen to go any more.

Keith actually revived the Gimme Shelter intro on the 2021 tour by playing it in the position he had used on the Winos Tour, for example. He did it sitting down at most shows, if I recall right, really concetrating on nailing it. Some nights it was so good, I thought it was prerecorded.

On the 2022 tour he let it fade again a bit. So it's a good sign that they rehearse it properly!

This is true. Played it sitting down off the the side sometimes. Going back to that really gave the intro a nice resonance. You can really see it in Matt Lee's great Hardrock casino video

Apart from the HD songs, all familiar selections.
Too early to whine about the setlist, I know, but it doesn’t look that promising. Predictably so, in a way. Sorry to be a buzz killer.

What this list lacks is a deep cut or obscure song from the past, another Out Of Time.
I almost mistook WILD HORSES as WARHORSES lol.

Totally agree. To me, it's their best ballad for a long time. I liked it from the moment it leaked. Even with the dog barking!

Unfortunately, there's only so much room for slower songs in the setlist, so I'm not holding my breath for it to actually make it in.

No Emotional Rescue.

That's too bad.

Thought they might be a bit more daring given HACKNEY DIAMONDS.

At least they did it live finally 11 years ago!

So many others they could bring out.

They rehearsed «Emotional Rescue» last week. No worries. Also Keith did «Silver» on Friday. Most of the HD songs are being rehearsed, and they sound great live. They are «en route” for another great tour, starting in Houston!

I have a vague hope the Stones will be playing more material from HD than one or two songs. Angry should be set, so does Mess It Up. Depending On You and Sweet Sounds of Heaven could be played alternately from gig to gig. Probably Bite My Head Off will make it to the setlist every few gigs. I doubt they will do Live By The Sword. Mick normally avoids songs that might impact his voice due to hard singing efforts. Without that the song won't work.
Tell Me Straight will be a runner through all shows, that's for sure. What's left? Whole Wide World could develop into a sing along tune ... who knows. Nobody expected Saint Of Me cdeveloping into such a singing along back then in 1997/98.

Mess it up the only song I am really hoping not to hear. Just don't like it one bit.

Maybe that's the cost of playing new songs - they are those 'obscurities' now. For a 19 song set list one cannot have too many of them (An introspective test for a hardcore fan is: would you rather hear a brandnew new song from the latest album - say, "Live By The Sword" - or a non-played obscure number - say, "Slave"- from the past... c'mon, be honest..grinning smiley)

That said, it would be wonderful to hear "Mother's Little Helper" they actually did rehearse but not play the last time.

I won't be there but I hope they'll do Out Of Time for the American audiences. If they do Mother's Little Helper I'll be wishing hard for a recording. Certainly they'll do at least one or two from HD.

Live By The Sward or Slave? I’d take either of these over a warhorse any day.winking smiley

I remember Hairball didn’t like Emotional Rescue the song and didn’t want them to play it live. I do myself and thought it worked live when I heard it at Hyde Park 2013 night 2.

Really hope Out of Time comes out here and there. Not needed every show, but loved it in London. Glad to hear they ran through it. Truth is there’s too many songs I’d like to hear but not enough open slots haha
