Wait! Why did my post turn into a tiresome 'list' exercise?

I wanted to know why you preferred of Angry and Ghost Town, and why.

The main reason I ask is because I know most people here were absolutely over the moon with GT when it was released, and I wanted to see how you thought this new single compared with that.

Haha.. and the lists don't even include the asked song...

But a tough one. I am still digesting "Anger", loving it now, but no idea how I might feel in the long run, or how does it fares against other songs, such as the great "Ghost Town". So I will my answer, say, next year..

What I know is that we have been treated with great, well-produced singles lately.

It's not difficult, the latest Stones song is always better than the last for most people.

So, yes, Living In A Ghost Town was top in 2020 until last week.

And that will change with the next single !

Angry and it’s not even close…I liked Ghost Town, but I think it’s a little overrated?

Ghost Town for me.

Why? No particular reason, played back to back, I prefer Ghost.

To put it in context, both Rough Justice and Doom and Gloom were something else. Or maybe just more my cup of tea.

Hahaha! Yes, that kind of why (rather cheekily) I asked. Most people seemed to love GT, 10 out of 10, so I was wondering how Angry rated - 11/10? ><

I, for my sins, wasn't overly thrilled with GT, but I certainly love Angry. Although not as extreme as Witness (who is waiting to hear it until the new album is released), I haven't yet listened to Angry on headphones accompanied by a natural relaxant. Will do that on my day off tomorrow.

Angry. I was happy with LiaGT at the time, but it's not nearly as good as Angry. I did expect it to be on the album though...Maybe it's the Japanese Bonus Track

I had to give this some thought, so I listened to Ghost, then to Angry. I think Ghost is more sophisticated musically, but Angry is a quite good rocker. It boils down to my mood. If I’m in the mood for a good rock and roll song, then it’s Angry.

Today I was at the hair salon and I asked my stylist if she’d heard the new Stones single. She hadn’t. So we had Alexa play it. My stylist loved it and thought it was a great song. She was surprised the Stones were “still putting out new music at their age.”

...so you ended up with a rockin hairdooooooo ....

Angry: I've listened to it a bunch of times. With Ghost Town, I heard it twice and never really played it again.

I wasn't a fan of Ghost Town until I saw it live a few times.

Most likely Angry will grow on me the same way.

Have you listened to ABB lately.

Over time things grow on you.

Angry for the lyrics. I can relate. Ghost town? I cannot even remember the lyrics.

I appreciate the lists but agree it should be it's own thread. My immediate reaction to the first list by John Lomax was: add Jump on Top of Me and I would buy that cd.

Although I don't particularly care for the 'whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa' part in the chorus, I do like Ghost Town, but nowhere near as much as I do like Angry.

I think it’s a great single. It’s got some attitude. Catchy as hell. Didn’t expect a Brown Sugar, JJ Flash but I think it’s overall the best first single in awhile. If this was released 40 years ago it would be huge. No doubt

Mine is definitely Angry, I prefer its overall sound, the messy mass of guitars, vocals and handclaps in the second half, and that grungy bass.

That nonsense aside, I'm still with Living In A Ghost Town. But it's basically ridiculous. Which one is your favourite? Brown Sugar or Tumbling Dice? She's So Cold or She Was Hot? Neighbours or Summer Romance?

I really dig Angry. It's excellent. It's now.
