So, what are your first impressions, Irix?

Heard only the snippets from Apple Music. Sounds good so far, but further (proper) listening of the entire album is required.

After all the hype good isn't good enough.
I'm wondering what happened to the original album that got shelved, could that one have been better than good. winking smiley

After 4 spins all the way through it’s a great record with one jarring awful dud.

I’m sorry, but Mess it Up IS a shocking mess. What were they thinking? The rest is universally great.

I still prefer "Mess It Up" to "Live By The Sword" myself as far as the Charlie tracks go.

I think I have given the entire album two run-throughs so far. Gotta step outside for a long walk so I can get a couple more times in tonight...

No release party for me tonight, but everyone who's going, enjoy! Tomorrow's going to be a great day.

Mess it up is a very good song with an outstanding drumming, IMO

'Mess It Up' for me is one of the many highlights. Love the New Wavey/disco pulse of the chorus and bridge, as well as the vocal melody & nice descending guitar lick. Verses are a cool Stones strut, the Chic-like chorus makes it though. The drums, the rhythm; great to have Charlie's groove on this one.

Plenty highlights though, am loving it.

You can’t count on him. He is working for a tabloid newspaper who gets a living out of clickbaits. He is ALWAYS going against the stream and by doing so, the newspaper and him are getting what they aim for: Attention and more clicks!
However, every time Bob Dylan release a wet fart, he nearly orgasms…

I felt the same and said as such in the Arts Desk review, though I have found myself singing the chorus in my head since then, so maybe it is a slow grower. But to have just the one song you may skip out of 12, that is an awesome achievement.

It' truly is a classic Stones album, and on its own terms, too. Hard to believe, but it's the truuuuth! I was worrying that I had been overeager and overegging in my reviewing it, for all the reasons that get mentioned on this thread, but as iorr responses come in from the first full listens, I think I got it right. And anyway, I had a total blast and a lot of fun writing it.
I can't wait to get the actual object, and get it on the old separates hifi (1980s Cyrus amp, Mission speakers) rather than thru my cans from a laptop.

Dylan doesn't/hasn't released a wet fart as far as I'm concerned, the absolute opposite, he continues to be the greatest songwriter in this world.
