Curious whether or not to read too much in to the a new Stones 'era' slogan. Life post Charlie, something else?

Who's on the drums on "Angry"?

I really like the drum sound but guitars seems too overcompressed.

Guess since Taylor Swift is calling her album periods "Eras" the Stones thought it was cool to do the same.

Personally (and I could be wrong) that sounds like Steve on the drums.

Stones doing a Vegas residencie. That would be the start of the ultimate 'vegas era'.

Good to hear! I remember when you broke the news about GT, everyone was dumbfounded!

Yes, I remember texting someone who was friendly with Don Was who assured me there was no new single.

I thought Mick said the new songs had to be "great"? Is this really "great"? It sounds ok, but...doesn't quite grab me the same was Living in a Ghost Town initially did. Maybe Andrew Watt convinced Mick how "great" this is? Whatever, looking forward to hearing the rest of it, but I imagine there will be far better choices when the full album is released.

Wondering whatever happened to Dave Stewart as far as his collaborations with Mick...
He seems to have disappeared out of Mick's orbit sometime after the Alfie soundtrack and Superheavy.
Or was he also involved with Micks Getta Grip/England Lost songs? Anyhow, hope all is well with him.

Dave hasn't worked with Mick since SuperHeavy as far as is known. Gotta Get a Grip and England Lost were written and produced with Matt Clifford. Ronnie and Charlie are featured on both track.

I’m a huge Keith fan, have been for decades.you look at the songs he did on the Stones albums.
You got the silver, happy, coming down again, before they make me run.
Just top notch stuff, but for the life of me I can’t understand how some people like the absolute piles of shit he’s put on the latter day albums.
And they don’t just like it, it’s total love.

I can only think that he’s developed his cult of personality to where these people believe they’re getting “the real deal”
No you’re not- it’s lazy, boring crap made by a guy who has checked out, with no energy sleepwalking through a recording session.

I find his slow stuff of the last 35 years or so to be hit and miss. I love some of it, other stuff doesn't work for me. Much like dub mixes, I think it's easy for a musician who focuses on feel to deliberately get lost in a groove and take the pulse down lower than a normal heartbeat. It also likely appeals to someone who learned to love the comedown of dope.

Also on Instagram. Alas, no audio snippet of any new songs.

It will be used with the new single soon. Wait a week.

Some of the best later day Stones gigs have been in Vegas imo.
Not the same lounge act town it used to be.. Would be great to see them in the new Sphere... U2"s doing a run there soon.. supposedly not a bad seat in the house, and the claim is the sound is the same regardless of where you are.

Believe it when I heae it, but definitely looks awesome.

NYC and Vegas residencies would be ideal for a lot of us, hope it's true smileys with beer

We have to hear the whole song. Hopefully it has a catchy chorus. We don’t even know if this is the first single

Sure but they never did a residency, e.g. like Adele does. Playing at the same venue every weekend and living at the hotel upstairs the whole time.

I imagine he likes it - this is pure Keith Solo intro: Steve on drums, then Keith enters with his riff (see: nearly every song on Main Offender + Almost Hear you Sigh + few on Talk is Cheap).

Sounds more like Mick than Keith on guitar here, pure rythm, no Keith "subtleties" or did you mean the "structure" ?

I get the point, but is Mick who's playing that riff for sure...or Watt..I mean, it's too tight and polished to be Keith's

I hear Mick. Very much so. His power-style. No open G, is it?

Definitely not Keith.

It’s Mick through what sounds like store-bought pedals.

Imagine if it happened it would be more of a "mini" residency, perhaps even a one off over a couple weeks. Or perhaps more like Van Morrison does, every few months for a few days. Adele reportedly denied the Caesar's digs and is in a luxury villa nearby, imagine the boys would do similar.

Yep. And on a store-bought guitar through a store-bought amp!
