I wouldn't call it a leak, it's just part of the teaser campaign.

I wrote: intended leak - similar to 'bootlegging the bootleggers'.

Counting in a song sounds like such a cliché, I was disappointed to hear that

If I'm honest I was disappointed the second I heard the drums and guitar. I was really hoping for a polka. And then when Mick sang in English, I mean we've had sixty years of almost everything sung in English. I was really hoping for German or Polish this time.

Roger Friedman throws Mick Taylor's name into the mix of "Hackney Diamonds" contributors - and Ringo Starr is mentioned yet again.
The Rolling Stones Set to Announce First New Album of Songs in Years on Sept 6th, “Hackney Diamonds”
by Roger Friedman - September 1, 2023
The fall looks very promising now.
Keith Richards says the new Rolling Stones album, called “Hackney Diamonds,” will be announced next Tuesday.
We already know many stars make cameos including ex Stones Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor, plus Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. There are no doubt others, including the last playing of drums by the later great Charlie Watts. As I exclusively reported, the Stones finished recording in the Bahamas this past spring.
Will the album include their pandemic hit, “Living in a Ghost Town”? Hope so! And does this mean another US tour? Again, fingers crossed!

I don't really see the point of counting in an intro on a studio album...
Maybe a reminiscence to the Beatles track 'Taxman' ?
C'mon, count-offs heighten the excitement!!

18 years of waiting and some statements by Jagger talking about a 'great album' created very high expectations.
Honestly, i didn't expect from this first snippet something more reminiscent of solo Jagger than the Stones.
I've listened to it on loop dozens of times and i keep hearing the Jagger of 'I Can't Take It No More' or a Primitive Cool outtake or Eazy Sleazy vibes.
That's the feeling I get...but I hope to be totally proven wrong when the single and album come out.
.. I was thinking "Goddess in the doorway" outtake.....
Don't call me up
Don't tell me when something is beautiful
Don't tear me up (Wandering spirit)..
Don't get angry with me.......
...but it was only 19 seconds so we'll see......

London and UK do still have lots and lots of these traditional red payphone boxes. I just love them. But I wonder who is using them, as we all have our own phones these days.

Oh yes I am VERY WELL aware of that. But WS was the closest Mick ever came to the Stones' "sound".

For instance, when the battery of the own phone is empty and charging is not possible.
