"Waiting On A Friend" was shot in New York, too. I'm sure there's others?

Anyhow, the band's got such strong roots in NYC as well it's no surprise they did (some of) the promo shooting there. Keep in mind they also worked on the new album there, at Electric Lady Studios.

But this one appears more British themed.

I think the jury is still out on the whole theme.

We don't even know for 100 % if the album is finally going to be called "Hackney Diamonds". Now, there's strong indication that it is indeed, but we'll see.

"A Bigger Bang" went under the working title of "Manhattan Beach" at some point! [reverb.com]

We don't even know for 100 % if the album is finally going to be called "Hackney Diamonds".

Somewhat unlikely that Universal Music registered a website, set up an eMail & telephone service and let create an advertising artwork just for an album's working title.

My educated guess would be:
"Hackney Diamonds" - Album Title
(wonderful pun to weaving or/and to "worn diamonds" etc pp)
“Don’t get angry, get it fixed” - Title of the first Single to be released.

There's too much writing/wording related stuff in the AD to be "just a phrase"

Cheerio,
Flo

You know what was also pointed out on another forum?

That "Hackney Diamonds" is an euphemism of "Rolling Stones", in a way.

Diamonds can be called "stones" and a "hackney" can mean a carriage, something that rolls...

Yes, I spotted that. And that user Valeswood here on IORR said they'd heard the name before and were sworn to secrecy.

Things do point out to that really being the name.

I wouldn't mind, it's a cool name to me.

Leaving themselves open to the likely detractors and gloom merchants who will call it "Hackneyed Diamonds"

[Hackneyed being a term used by we Brits to describe something a little jaded or over-used ..unsure of the origins grinning smiley]

Diamond is also a reference to a 60 year anniversary for a wedding for example. So it could also reference to their 60th band anniversary.

Looking forward to hear new songs from the Stones!!

And also really curious in how many formats it will be released

many many inner references, if all turns out to be real (the horses...charlie), the surreal shattered glass lips & tongue being both over the top and poignant
that ad as the trigger of the campaign > hats off
the start looks very cool

A friend of mine told me that
Hackney Diamonds is London slang for broken glass, such as a smashed car window
But I don't know if it's true

That's "Dalston diamonds".

[londonist.com]

But Dalston is an area of Hackney so we're good!

direct meaning seems to refer to a slang london expression referring to cars smashed glasses on the street

anyway there's been already a lot of speculation on inner references here on this thread and on the forum where the news was spread initially
