Not a remix so much as an extended edit, just some tweaked editing of an otherwise not so edited mix of Emotional Rescue.Quote

This topic is about remixes by other artists, right? Different takes on songs, by adding and/or removing instruments or complete parts of the songs. adding loops, samples... Sometimes even changing the genre of the tune to a dancetrack. That kind of stuff.
Adding channels to stereo tracks is more remastering in my book...
It's absolutely appalling how noninsightful and ignorant you guys are.
You haven't got a clue about what you're talking about.
I like your direct way of commenting. Go for it!
Feel free to learn and get inspired.

So please educate us. What is Dolby Atmos?

And... you obviously have zero knowledge of what a remix is.

Again, have you noticed that absolutely nobody seems to share your views!

This seems to have developed into a technical argument about what constitutes a remix or a remaster.
In simple and none technical terms a "remix" is a reworking of the original multi track studio masters and a "remaster" is a modification to the original stereo mixdown of those same multi track masters.
After that we're splitting hairs and just annoying each other

Not sure if Dolby Atmos works with any type of headphones. Maybe it sounds off if they are not compatible?

I was sorta interested in what Dolby Atmos is but that guys attitude ruined it for me

Dolby Atmos is a mixing technology. Postulating otherwise is absurd.
ReelStone Trading Group is getting ready later this summer to release the upcoming new Dolby Atmos remixes of the tracks found on Forty Licks.
Previous Dolby Atmos remixes released on RSTG:
- Tattoo You [iorr.org]
- Honk [iorr.org]

Based on your post one might think that the engineers involved in the recording of any Stones album - let's say Glyn Johns for example - do not know their job. Or that the Stones were recorded using bad equipment or in bad sounding rooms ...
Of course we all know that this is not true at all. What you consider "crappy sound" is exactly what the band wanted the album to sound like. You might not like it. Fair enough. I do. And I have a hard time to name one rock and roll album that sounds better than any Stones album.
GHS has crappy sound.Keith plays great guitar on for example Silver Train, yet it’s buried in the mix.IORR is crap.Even Andy Johns said that. L&G is crap.Mick said Exile mix was crap. Voodoo Lounge has a dull sound. These are great albums but not great sound IMO

It's a shame that there isn't a remix version of Emotional Rescue. The perfect Stones song to remix imho.

And to make the things even more clear lets turn to Steve Hoffman's explanation
__________
Remember, gang. This is the rule for mixed recordings, as stupid as it reads:
Master tape means UNMASTERED TAPE.
When you master something you use the UNMASTERED MASTER and MASTER IT to something , either DSD, CD, LACQUER, etc.
A master tape isn't mastered until it's mastered! A master tape is essentially WHAT IS APPROVED FOR MASTERING, hence it is marked MASTER. In other words, "Hey, Mr. Mastering engineer, USE THIS and do your mastering stuff to it to make it sound really good".
Therefore, a flat transfer of a master tape almost never sounds good "straight". But, sometimes it does and when it does, it is up to the mastering engineer to let it alone.
If you understand that, you understand all.
