If it's Keith that plays the solo on "It's All Over Now", then "It's All Over Now".

On the Tokyo 1990 shows Keith plays some very intricate lead lines during the breakdown of Rock and a Hard Place. He plays a middle eastern flavored scale that he doesn't play often, and its technically quite challenging in speed and note choice.

That doesn't even sound like Richards. Is there a video of him playing it? Sounds like studio overdub.

He plays a variation of that on several versions.

For te guitar nurds amongst us: Keith is playing a short crossover between an E phrygian and E phrygian dominant (a raised third-G#) scale up and down. Sounds great, at 4:37 sharp:

A nice one indeed, but strange the story in LIFE Keith shares with us. That Lennon teased him how bad that solo was, and Keith seemingly agreed with it.

I’m having trouble imagining Keith thinking about modes. My guess — and this is only a guess — is that he’s just thinking C major scale (same notes as E Phrygian).
The song is is A minor, so C is the relative major. It sounds great against the E chord.

Absolutely he is hearing the chords underneath.
I’m just saying that I doubt he is thinking about Phrygian or any other mode.

My point is I don't actually see him do it.
