damn right it would.

Due to the lyric references, "Sympathy for the Devil" should be quite special in that particular city

I went to the one and only date they have played in Russia so far at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow in 1998 - a great show although I think there were more cops and soldiers there than fans! (no shortage of volunteers for that 'tour of duty'!)

Damn expensive city. I checked out some hotels (just for fun :-))
But IMO the most exciting location till now.

Of course they *have* to sing SFTD:

I stuck around St. Petersburg when I saw it was time for a change

smiling smiley

edit: oh, Gazza already mentioned that above...

rs.com has now removed Petrovsky as the St Petersburg, and now lists only "tba".

I would LOVE to see this show. As an American, just being in Russia would be very exciting, but seeing the Stones there would probably blow my mind.

Is St Petersburg really more expensive than Norway or Sweden?

Is St Petersburg really "more expensive than Norway or Sweden?"

In a way it is; decent hotels, good restaurants are quite expensive (not perhaps quite the standard of Norway, but Sweden yes). But then, there are some very cheap bars, food and stuff is cheap in ordinary shops (vodka is goddamn cheap and good!!).

So, I think is up to you, how much you want to spend. Depends on your needs smiling smiley

I, myself, as a Finn, find that St. Petersburg option a fascinating one. Better perhaps than Göteborg. Jagger's always been enthustistic playing in Russian, THAT song, plus the milisi and the army... sounds rock and roll!!

St.Peterburg is one of the most beutiful cities, I was there and really enjoyed my staing. Midjune is a period of "white nights" (it's not dark during the whole night), so it's very popular turistic period and as a result the hotels are expensive and should be bookes beforehand. By the way Moscow is somethig like 25% more expensive.
Hope to see Stones during this summer there.

I tried with the Russian letters but is got destroyed in the edition.
Well, well... Gotta go back & make Western types of all again; here we ago:

Doroga = road [daro'ga] note: "p" is "R"

"CeBeRHaR DOR." ["DOP".](„t„€„‚.) road = North Road [saeve' rnaja daro' ga]

Ostrov = Island [ostrof]

The "Tongue" island is called Krestovskij Ostrov.
The small one North of it is Elagin O.; the more central to the
east is Aptekarskij O. - ... Then you can see letter by letter,
and solve most of the rest of the letters. Its the Chyrillian
alphabet, almost exactly the same as the Greek use.
