Happy Birthday to you for Joe Perry - meant to add before - though I would be a tiny bit disappointed one of my 19 songs was counted as Happy Birthday to You.

Equivalent of Mary had a little Lamb - but I'm being pedantic; Tyler's voice, at 75, singing in the original key, on some incredibly challenging songs vocally, is, well quite outstanding

Well, that didn't take long:

"Areosmith postpone Toronto show due to Steven Tyler's Vocal Cord Damage"

5 US dates also postponed.

Got a funny feeling this North American tour is it for Aerosmith...

That seems to come with a price. It annoyed me for a long time when Mick started to sing with less effort since Voodoo tour (or even Steel Wheels?) to save his voice, but he obviously did the right move. Mick’s voice is still in very good shape compared to a lot of his peers: Macca, Daltrey, Stewart, etc.

A good spot, Mick definitely lost his snarl / growl around that time. But his consistency since then has been pretty good annd I don’t miss it ant the shows. And then just seen the news about the postponement 3 shows in for Stevie. At least it’s not a rehab stint!

Mick's voice definitely has gotten thinner, but not croaky like Daltrey or warbley like Macca.

Still, Roger and Paul gave 110% every night until they couldn't anymore, while Mick played it safe. Who's more rock and roll?

Much respect for Tyler and Aerosmith for actually postponing due to voice issues instead of just using a ton of backing tracks like another certain not to be named 70's band touring right now.

Steven 'Postponed' Tyler.

If he's not in rehab, or falling off the stage, then he's overtaxing himself onstage. Wotta guy.

I was wondering about that. Fractured larynx seemed extreme.

What, no Vancouver date, or any Western Canada for that matter? Hopefully if they make it through the posted dates, they'll add more next year.

You'll be lucky if they make it through THESE dates. Doesn't look like they added any dates besides one random Tampa, FL one, so can't really get mad at them if Vancouver or Western Canada was never on the original docket.

With the amount of NA dates they have, you'd think they could throw in YVR.

My guess is they have an Elton John/Kiss style 5-year-retirement-tour plan. I'm skeptical, but hopeful, they will make it through even this leg of their tour.

100%... It's a shame Ozzy isn't healthier. I really enjoyed Sabbath concerts.

Thanks for giving us some great music over the years! A lady I dated in college liked to play air guitar to Walk This Way. Aerosmith had a memorable catalogue of tunes.

Despite what ended up happening, they were great right up until the end. Steven still had it and actually their last album like a decade ago, for them, was pretty damn good. Too long, but a great 40-50 minute record in there. Like Jagger, Steven live carried that band on his back.

The announcement:

”It was 1970 when a spark of inspiration became Aerosmith. Thanks to you, our Blue Army, that spark caught flame and has been burning for over five decades. Some of you have been with us since the beginning and all of you are the reason we made rock ‘n’ roll history.

It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours. In every club, on every massive tour and at moments grand and private you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives.

We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when performing. As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision - as a band of brothers - to retire from the touring stage.

We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time. Grateful to our expert crew, our incredible team and the thousands of talented people who’ve made our historic runs possible. A final thank you to you - the best fans on planet Earth. Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true.”
