For the 2022 FIFA World Cup scheduled to take place in Qatar in late November 2022. mMny teams involved and only a few games left. I will concentrate on the Nordic teams here. Feel free to involve your own team of course. Sweden botched their chances of winning their group and qualify for the WC 2022 by losing their last two games. They ended up on second place and will now qualify for the remaining 3 spots in the WC in Qatar. A slim chance by the way: 3 teams will make it, 9 will not. Norway only reached 0-0 against Latvia (who was out already) on home turf and will now face Holland in Holland. A tough task since they, most probably, need to win to secure either direct qualification or qualification. So does Holland by the way. Denmark is already qualified after 7 straight wins (some kind of record). Congratulations. Iceland is out, regrettably. Finland has a good chance of making it for the qualification rounds.

I see England delivered the obligatory thrashing of San Marino. No-one in England is remotely excited about this, obviously. Or, at least, they shouldn’t be. The problem is that a UEFA-affiliated national team such as San Marino deserves a chance, but have zero hope. They’re just there to boost Harry Kane’s goal-scoring tally.

They did score one of the fastest ever goals in World Cup history though - against England in Nov 1993.

If Italy don’t qualify then they should throw one of the lesser teams out and let Italy in it is not right to have a World Cup without Italy.

Haha. Actually it would be nice if Italy would make the tournament this time (they didn't qualify in 2018 either). But as is with sports one needs to deserve that by a good enough performance, no free passes. But it is not a piece of cake from Europe to qualify, since there is only 13 spots from Europe. This means that about always some traditionally big country fails to do that, since the traditionally lesser teams are getting better and the competetion just getting tougher and tougher.

I remember growing up in the seventies that England never qualified for the World Cup (from 1970 to 1982). It was considered a strange thing at the time. But they have improved since then
and with the exception of 1994 never missed a World Cup. I might be mistaking - but they seem to have been seeded in very easy qualification groups lately. Is that right?
