Feels a bit like we're driving it a bit towards the political side here so I'll just state my congratulations and best wishes before the thread closes!
Welcome back USA!

Hello Tonstone,
I know what I wish for ,and that is a peaceful and leadership in the UK as well all over the world.
Joe and Kamila are two genuinely nice people and wish them well for trying to get USA back on track with getting the world in a better place health-wise and just getting on together.

Amanda Gorman deserves her own thread!
With people like her there's really hope for the world.

Joe Biden is not a socialist. The Democratic Party has never been a socialist party. You have two parties in the USA. None of them are socialists. In a European context they are both considered right wing parties. One more than the other. Not even Bernie Sanders is a socialist by definition. But he was the first Democrat I've ever heard talking about European Social democracy. The reason Biden was nominated in the first place was to distance the party from Sander's ideas.

Rbk, globalism is a liberal idea. Not a socialist dito. More precisely neoliberal. Neoliberalism is a right wing political ideology.

The "centre" is different in different countries. In social democratic (not to be confused with socialist in any way) countries like the Nordic countries, Biden is considered a hard-boiled conservative.
In Norway we have a conservative government, which would probably be placed left of centre in the UK
