Not impressed on the first listen. Maybe it needs to grow on me.
It does … and it will !
2nd listen after my 2nd glass of wine went much better!

Would you love this song as much if it was written and performed by someone else?
like who?
probably not...b/c it wouldn't sound the same.
but, then again...maybe somebody like Jimi Hendrix could make it sound better?
who knows?
I think this goes for a lot of music.

Thank you to Deathgod.
Also, noting that Mick and Keith's PR indicates the 6 or 7 tracks worked on last year that Soldatti mentioned is 100% correct.

There's only so much you can do.
I mean, the lyrics are pretty awful...

You mean as opposed to the likes of:
"Dandelion don't tell no lies"
"I can't get no ... Satisfaction"
"Between a Rock & Hard place"
what band have you been listening to all these years?
Jesus Christ, talk about going in w/ pre-determined notions. You were implying others only like it because its the Stones ... I am thinking you were going to dislike the outcome no matter what it was.
Wait till the 2nd bottle of wine...Quote

It's great. Catchy. One of those songs where you find yourself humming it later and want to get back to it.
Elements of Miss You, Love is Strong, Feel on Baby, Out of Control, Beast of Burden, One More Shot, you name it. It's a Stones tune.

There's no need to be so aggressive. I don't think anyone turns to the Rolling Stones for lyrical quality, I agree.
I don't dislike this song. It sounds like how the Rolling Stones (i.e a bunch of 76 year olds) should sound in 2020.

I see your point to a degree...but, I wouldn't say "pretty awful"
they're OK overall, in my mind....they work well-enough for me, but everybody's different.
It's definitely a good groove though...IMO.
I can get past lyrics that "aren't all-that" if the music is good..but, rarely the other way around....but, that's just me.
As examples:
I feel like a huge portion of the Red Hot Chili Peppers lyrics are terrible...at least for me....but, their music is fantastic.
I also think of "Kickstart My Heart" by Motley Crue...."skydive naked from an aeroplane...or a lady w/ body from outer space"...ugh....cringe-worthy lyric...but, still a great rocker.
a lot of rap is like that for me. Love the music, lyrics not so much.
Hendrix could've probably sung the phone-book and I would've liked it.
I'm rambling...sorry.

Actually you do it quite often, what some call a music snob, in berating others tastes. But no matter, the song is great for what it is. There's no more Gimme Shelters or Sympathy For the Devils left in their careers, this is about as good as could be expected, based on what we have from them the past 30 years or so.
