Hey, guys. I made a quickie video about the new track. Special analysis of the bridge, with its Fm6 and G#dim!

[youtu.be]

Great video man! keep it up!!

Hi everyone, it's been a while. I am doing fine.

The new single is cool, I can´t say I love it, but it is good. Anyway, we have to be grateful that the Rolling Stones are releasing new music. Can't wait to hear the complete new album, maybe at the end of the year?

I felt really excited today to hear a new stones composition since one more shot in 2012.

A pretty "hilarious" (as in "you can't beat that style") review by Alexis Petridis in the Guardian [www.theguardian.com]

Good song, but sounds like a Jagger /Clifford collaboration. How much did Keith contribute to it.Mick sounds great

Am I still the only one hearing that timing "hiccup" right at the beginning, around 0:01, sounds like an edit that went wrong !

Have listened to it three times.

Simply some Rolling Stones magic!

Now longing even more than before for a new Rolling Stones studio album!

Would you love this song as much if it was written and performed by someone else?

like who?

probably not...b/c it wouldn't sound the same.

but, then again...maybe somebody like Jimi Hendrix could make it sound better?

who knows?

I think this goes for a lot of music.

There's only so much you can do.

I mean, the lyrics are pretty awful...

Thank you to Deathgod.

Also, noting that Mick and Keith's PR indicates the 6 or 7 tracks worked on last year that Soldatti mentioned is 100% correct.

Note to "self" by Rocky Dijon : "delete contact info of the insider who told me that the news of the single was rubbish" ;-)

You mean as opposed to the likes of:
"Dandelion don't tell no lies"
"I can't get no ... Satisfaction"
"Between a Rock & Hard place"

what band have you been listening to all these years?

Jesus Christ, talk about going in w/ pre-determined notions. You were implying others only like it because its the Stones ... I am thinking you were going to dislike the outcome no matter what it was.

just watched the video, now I get it, nice reggae influence there without being overpowering, and great tour of ghostly London town. Like this song a lot actually, don't know why I didn't feel it in the clip earlier today

now I wonder whats on the B side of that 10" single. Pure dub version or another track altogether?

There's no need to be so aggressive. I don't think anyone turns to the Rolling Stones for lyrical quality, I agree.

I don't dislike this song. It sounds like how the Rolling Stones (i.e a bunch of 76 year olds) should sound in 2020.

It's great. Catchy. One of those songs where you find yourself humming it later and want to get back to it.

Elements of Miss You, Love is Strong, Feel on Baby, Out of Control, Beast of Burden, One More Shot, you name it. It's a Stones tune.

i agree - catchier than covid-19!

Actually you do it quite often, what some call a music snob, in berating others tastes. But no matter, the song is great for what it is. There's no more Gimme Shelters or Sympathy For the Devils left in their careers, this is about as good as could be expected, based on what we have from them the past 30 years or so.

Will there be a physical release?
A 45 rpm would be great

I see your point to a degree...but, I wouldn't say "pretty awful"

they're OK overall, in my mind....they work well-enough for me, but everybody's different.

It's definitely a good groove though...IMO.

I can get past lyrics that "aren't all-that" if the music is good..but, rarely the other way around....but, that's just me.

As examples:

I feel like a huge portion of the Red Hot Chili Peppers lyrics are terrible...at least for me....but, their music is fantastic.

I also think of "Kickstart My Heart" by Motley Crue...."skydive naked from an aeroplane...or a lady w/ body from outer space"...ugh....cringe-worthy lyric...but, still a great rocker.

a lot of rap is like that for me. Love the music, lyrics not so much.

Hendrix could've probably sung the phone-book and I would've liked it.

I'm rambling...sorry.

There's two versions of the song, one is the video which clocks at 3:48 with a few edits during the last minute after the harmonica solo and the other one clocks at 4:08 on Spotify.

Some lyrical quality (excuse the misquotes, its from 50 years memory):

Well theres twenty thousand grandmas
wave their hankies in the air
tearing up their pensions
and shouting, we don't care
theres a regiment of soldiers
standing, looking on,
and the queen is bravely shouting
what the HELL is going on?
With a blood curdling tally ho
she charged into the ranks
and blessed all those grandmas
who with their dying breath scream THANKS
Here I sit so patiently
lying on the floor
just trying to adjust this f'in face mask
so it don't infect me anymore.

Now those was some lyrics.

that said, just pre ordered one copy each of the vinyl slates, just have to wait for the release date and then the two weeks wait apparently. don't understand that one, I think they should deliver some prereleases to those who preorder.

They keep on rollin’ in the contaminated world!

Note the photo credit in the end registers Kyoto, but the majority of the Japanese scenes are actually from Osaka, i.e., Shinsekai streets, the Tsutenkaku tower, Osaka-jo (castle) etc.

This is the Rolling Stones now, and it is new. Then just now I want this song more than any other Stones song for some time. That is the holy experience of what a new Rolling Stones song may do to you.

Evaluation against other Stones songs belongs to a later time. Enjoy the experience of having a new Stones song to be familiar with! That is a privilege that it is long since we last had!

Seems like a bit of pandering with the "milennial whoop" in the Oh Oh Ohhh section, but overall nicely produced with some good things in it. Reminds me a bit of "Laugh, I Nearly Died" but not quite as successful as that track. Hope we get some more!
