I never saw them doing this past 80, but hope to God I'm wrong.
As it's often been said, just about everything they have done since 2012 has been a bonus.

I always was a little afraid of this scenario. But that's the risk when you decide to 'just see where it goes'..
I personally had hoped that they had given a couple of farewell concerts across the globe and then called it a day. But apparently they thought that wasn't the 'rock and roll' way. And of course there is something to be said for that..
But hey, this is the Stones. I wouldn't be surprised if there will be another tour in the near future.
God blese them if we'll never ever see a farewell Show. This would be the worst scenario for me. I would love to see them on stage again but If Berlin was the last show it was a wonderful last show. Much better than the Casino gig the year before. But the chances Berlin was the last show are now higher than for any other show before. It could be real but we'll never know.

When Mick, Keith and Ron stay healthy, I'm sure there will be more shows. I can't believe Berlin was the last one. I have no doubts about Mick, he's very fit and even an 'injury' can't stop him from touring. Even a break of one or two years won't stop him off. Keith and Ron are probably more of a risk, health wise. The rest of the band will be replaceable if something happens, even Darryl and Chuck.
Probably debated in other topics, but the following question comes to mind: what if something should happen with Ron? Will they continue touring? It's a bit of a sensitive topic, because you don't want to think or anticipate to those things. But still an interesting question.

I love the Stones. But I think I'm one of the few who DON'T want to hear or care for a new album by the Stones! Another KR riff, another 'forced' MJ vocals, mediocre lyrics, no Charlie etc etc...All these elements on a new album? No, I pass.
We're blessed with all those magical albums like Sticky Fingers, Exile, Beggars, Some Girls. I'll stay with these golden nuggets.
I prefer albums (live albums, deluxe editions) from the Vault instead of a new album!

I am in your camp on this. I really wish the Stones would put their energy into creating a better legacy experience for the fans. IE: reworking any live or demo tracks for release, be active and connect on a "Stones" XM channel, tell the story from their perspective, merchandise input, etc..
The world would have endless opportunities for them outside of touring.

Yes, after they replaced Charlie I think Ronnie is definitely replaceable. I always thought they could easily swap him for Jeff Beck since they looked almost identical. Well, not anymore ofcourse. But it would look a bit sad.. just Mick & Keith and touring band members.. but people would still buy tickets for the shows. It's still "The Rolling Stones".
Yeah, but that's a bit disingenuous. Brian Wilson does Beach Boys songs but doesn't tour as the Beach Boys. Do you really think Mick and Keith could get away with calling themselves the Rolling Stones? They've lost sixty percent of the band. They survived Bill leaving, but went a step down. With Charlie gone it doesn't even feel like the same band. Ronnie does a heck of a lot more guitar playing than Keith these days. He's all over Blue and Lonesome. I'm not sure you could just plug and play another guitar slinger in Ronnie's place at this point. Maybe. Fans aren't too aware.

No, Mick would be totally bored by his own past.

I'm optimistic. They're not done till they say they are.

Is it too early to revive the "Sons of Stones" replacement theory?

Stephen Wyman retired from the group, and refuses to return. They considered expanding it to "And Daughters Too", but Chloe and Emma Taylor can't be found, and
Seraphina Watts only wants to play to Charlie Parker records. Brian's five illegitimate children have no interest. That leaves only three slots and everyone know only 3 does not warrant calling the group The Stones.

In a way they have had their future behind them ever since the comeback in 1989. Since then they have been a band more of the past than the future.
Their music really mattered in the late sixties and the seventies - it hasn't since. Whatever they do now is not a hanging matter anymore.
Except for the hard core fans maybe...

I think they are saying they're done as a touring act, at their ages the odds of them all being fit enough to tour next year stack up against them.
They haven't actually said they will tour again officially have they, we get rumours from insiders to keep interest going here.
Mick allegedly couldn't perform this summer because of an ankle injury, Ronnie has had challenges that could return as we all know, Keith seems content to spend the remainder of his life in private.
I think if we do see them live it's possible as individuals they will perform one off shows from time to time with other musicians for charity or tribute shows, guest appearances etc, unfortunately the chances of all three of them being fit at the same time for future tours next year and beyond are highly unlikely.
If they really wanted to tour this year they wouldn't need to play in NFL stadiums, they could do 6 nights at the Royal Albert Hall and 6 nights in Vegas, there are countless places all over the world they could play to promote the new album, just saying.
