Isn't South Africa's vaccination rate a lot higher than the rest of Africa though??

Even vaccination rates of 70% are too low for "hers" immunity thus the problem with Covid pretty much everywhere. South Africa is one of the richer countries in Africa and they don't have the means to vaccinate their population. To prevent new strains from developing vaccines need to make it to the poorer countries and the richer countries need to increase vaccinations above the 50%-75% rates.
Well, SA's vaccination rate IS higher than most of African countries (except for Tunisia and Morocco), but still dramatically low.
It is not the South African variant any more than Delta was the Indian variant or the initial variant was the China virus.
What is pathetic,short sighted and extremely stupid is western governments not donating enough vaccines to poorer nations and the companies producing the vaccines not agreeing to licence them more freely due to nothing but greed.
I will be eligible for a booster soon here in the UK but I would personally rather donate it to someone else who hasn't had a chance to even get the first shot yet.The problem is that if I don't take the booster it will not be donated and may even end up in the bin just as other excess vaccines have done.

In all nations of the UK, since 1984 it has been illegal to force anyone to accept any kind of medical treatment against their will. I have personally chosen to be vaccinated but people have the right to refuse it.

There are many ways to deal with covid that has been demonstrated to be very effective and they keep getting censored to the best of their ability. A problem with freeing or donating vaccine is the technology required to produce, transport and store them. One could argue, that with the huge profits already made, the vaccines could be made available at much lower prices. I would dispute the prudence of trying to mass vaccinate the developing world, when their health systems don't seem to be overwhelmed by patients and with the limited time the vaccines are effective it could be like a screw that never tightens up.

If the vaccine was proven to be 100% effective and safe, mandatory vaccination would be a bit more understandable, but as of now neither have been fully proven to be true.
Long term effects are unknown, there can be side effects, and booster shots are now being recommended with more sure to follow as time marches on and variations continue to mutate.
I'm vaccinated, but can understand those that are against mandatory vaccinations as it seems a bit extreme considering all the unknown circumstances and risks.
It would never happen in the US - in fact many of the proposed lesser mandates are already being suspended and/or struck down by the courts before they even begin.

Maybe the public can strike a deal with these mutherfuxxers in power.We take mandatory Covid vaccines if they take mandatory MDMA pills and surely then we would not only bring the pandemic to an end but also there would be a drastically reduced chance of wars.

Oslo Norway have got a major case of Omicron covid-19 variant spread. A person arriving from South Africa joined in at the Scatec company Christmas party with 120 employees Friday Nov 25. Now 50-60 people from the party are testing positive, the variant is Omicron. The party was open for fully vaccinated people only.

Norway Government press conference today just finished, following new info about how fast Omicron is spreading, basically through air to more than 50% of all people in the same room as one person being infected: Mask mandate, max 100 people at private parties, max 600 people at indoor public events.
The new variant Omicron is a game changer, multiple times faster in spreading, if you are in the same room as a person infected with Omicron, the chance is more than 50% you will get covid-19, even if you are fully vaccinated.
