Mick in NYC

Glad Mick is in NYC too, actually just saw a video of Mick sending greetings to a singer on a restaurant thumbs up [www.instagram.com]

That’s cool, thanks for posting. As for hats, Mick has always been into hats and its a great look on him.

Just checked Nico Zentgraf's great Stones site (Complete Works) & it confirms the band is recording in an unidentified NYC studio, w/ D. Jones, S. Jordan, M. Clifford, B. Fowler & C. Haynes.

One would guess some tracks (Jamaica 2022?) are having the backing vocals added/overdubbed. Are they past recording basic tracks and now into mixing and overdubbing stages?

I have heard that recording now is part of the overall plan before gearing up for Japan, Australia, NZ in early 2023.(?) We will see.

Fantastic - Patti Hansen also having a day out with Sally Wood - [www.instagram.com]

Would be great to hear a new single before Christmas and honestly cannot wait to hear Charlie's drumming on some of these songs, one more time.

That's strange, to think of Rolling Stones cuts without Charlie. The only other instances were the rare Jimmy Miller contributions. Of course it will be one more version of the Stones. It can't be better. That ship sailed. It might be listenable.

Wow, Chuck is going to blow a gasket again, like for B&L ! He'll probably get over it when it comes time to resume his well paying "musical director" duties...

Well, I find "You Can't Always Get What You Want" and "Happy" pretty listenable. Neither some parts of "Tumbling Dice" not hurt my ears... smiling smiley

True! Although I need to admit that I have some problems with listening "Sleep Tonight"... But Jordan cannot be THAT bad drummer..

What did I miss? Kenney Jones on It's Only Rock and Roll, and Sleep Tonight with Wood? Jimmy Miller on Shine A Light. Eh. Sixty years. Mistakes will be made. Of course we can veer off into Bonus Land, where Bruce Rowland plays drums on Scarlet.

In various interviews he said that he only played percussion (he wouldn't have played the drums out of respect for Charlie Watts). But that was in the Paris stages of the sessions. They brought in some drummers during the mixing and overdubbing later in New York City, e.g. Anton Fig.

it would seem they want the next tour to be in support of a new album (i hope)

question, if that is the plan what are the chances of a new stage?

do we have any locals here from ny in the know who can shed any light on what's going on in the studio are they over dubbing and finishing off songs or is this something else?

not asking where they are or anything just any hints or rumours you've heard about what's going on

i don't know if what they did with blue and lonesome is a good indication about what they'll do

i think they'll probably have more confidence in an album of originals versus a album of covers

New pic of Keith, he was signing autographs outside Electric Lady Studios

alectabak, 5rphotolab The film processor takes a while to warm up, so we decided to take a walk around the block. @officialkeef was standing in front of the recording studio that Hendrix built, signing autographs. Greenwich Village, man. Keith, we’d love to get a disposable to you in time for your next session. You’ve shot film before, yeah?

From Martin Elliott/Rolling Stones Sessions:

Stones Sessions – You Never Can Tell

The Stones have been working sporadically on new tracks since the release of Blue & Lonesome in 2016. The locations have been at studios like Germano Studios, New York with Keith Richards; Ocean Way Studios, LA with Mick and Keith; British Grove Studios, London with Charlie Watts. Finally, this year at studios in Jamaica with Mick and Keith plus at different times their respective home studio facilities. Technology allows for Wave (BWF) tracks to be sent from studio to studio and overdubs can then be made.

However, their output is always better when they play and record together as a band. Also, their work is more prolific following the momentum built up off a back of a tour. Their ‘Sixty’ anniversary gigs ended in August. There are strong rumours that the three principals (Mick, Keith and Ronnie) are working with Darryl Jones, Steve Jordan and Matt Clifford this week in NYC. Nico Zentgraf states (www.nzentgraf.de/books/tcw/works1.htm) Bernard Fowler and Chanel Haynes (vocals) are at the sessions too. Tracking tapes will probably include those with Charlie Watts and Steve Jordan on drums. The presence of backing vocalists give a good indication that new Rolling Stones material may be an outcome. However, you never can tell with all that rock, rhythm and jazz.

The new album (if it comes at all) won't besoon released.
The new album will first have to be mixed (Blue & Lonesome was recorded in three days and only came out a year later.)
Also a problem these days, if you want to have your album pressed on vinyl, there is a waiting list of 6 to 12 months.
