This is BV's Forum and he has put a tremendous amount of work into it.
I've enjoyed many posts from people here who truly love and know music
but I was appalled when I saw how Bliss attacked a newcomer, Swayed1967
the other day and surprised that BV allowed it to stay.
Bliss's numerous attacks on me through the years surprised me but her recent comments re Jimi Hendrix were horrifying. I DID know Jimi well and saw and heard from him frequently. Although I was a respected writer for UPI, the
LA Times etc and had written a couple of well received books, I did not write
about Hendrix until thirty years after his death. I had...have tapes,
letters, rare photos etc. put away in storage.
I wrote the Hendrix book for the two children he fathered but had never met. They were troubled people and the book was helpful to them. This book has been published in hardcover or classy paperback numerous times in the US, UK, Europe, Brazil etc. etc. and received many fine reviews. Many of Jimi's rock star friends were in touch with me to say how much it meant to them as well as letters from fans from across the world.
Sorry Bliss, but I WAS on tour with the Rolling Stones for several weeks in
1970 at Mick's request. I have always been grateful to the Rolling Stones for
asking me. If I hadn't left the tour when I did and spent four days in
London before returning to Los Angeles to my reporter gig at United Press International I would never have seen Hendrix again.
I saw Jimi the night I arrived in London -- He looked ill. We spoke on the
phone four or five times in the next two days. I was quite worried about his
depression and the odd people surrounding him. The next day I was walking down
Bond Street, the newspapers had just been delivered. There was a huge
headline -- ROCK STAR DEAD. Eric Burdon was distraught and arranged for me
to see the nutty woman who had let Jimi die. I uncovered the true cause of his
death and talked to the coroner.
A couple of years later, Mick once again asked me to work for the Stones but there was illness in my family and I could not let them down.
I am saying good bye to IORR and wish the "good guys and gals" all the best.
I have thoroughly enjoyed most of the "Funniest Posts"
Hang in there "Swayed 1967"!

Why would you guys say that? Mathijs is a wealth of information and has offered this board great knowledge; especially in the guitar dept.
First off i copied "More Hot Rocks" comment and said "exactly" okay , look it up if you don't believe me okayQuote

I miss StonesTod and Gazza a great deal. It's nice to see Naturalust back again. I still maintain that Naturalust was known as Stroker on The Complete Honeymoon Tapes. I maintain this not because it strikes me as accurate, just that it amuses me. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to practice my conga drumming.

IORR is like a wife of several decades now. Familiar, not always pleasant, but it beats having to start again with a younger board that will probably tire of you before you do of it.

Sorry Greek. But honest;y - my comment wasn't directed at who said it, but more as a comment about my opinion on Mathijs' history.
But again: like I' said in another thread, it is hard nowadays, to tell who said what, once you start quoting.

When I read Rocky Dijon's comment above I howled with laughter. Also mused how close the words board/broad are. Which is what I usually do with potentially sexist Stone's lyrics (i.e., Mick, not KR)--I subconsciously switch the gender to male and/or take it as having been warm-heartedly facetious.
Although there's the occassional display of rather mean-spirited macho jerkinesss here, Rocky Dijon has never struck me that way. More sort of a corny old school joke Bob Dylan or Keith would tell (from the "take my wife, no seriously" playbook of comedy history).
Incidentally, is the above the sort of Quote Tree that's straining Rockee's scroll finger and we're being discouraged from partaking in? If so--ooops!!
