"Ronnie Wood wants The Stones to play series of small club dates

BBC 6 Music

Ronnie Wood has revealed The Rolling Stones were actually working on brand new material when they decided to record their latest album (and possible chart topper, scroll down) Blues & Lonesome.

The guitarist also said that he was hoping to take the new covers album on the road - in a series of intimate clubs around the "provinces" of England.

But he told 6 Music's Matt Everitt that he hasn't spoken to the rest of the band about his plan just yet. Bearing in mind that The Stones have not played in the UK in nearly five years Ron, it might be worth mentioning it to Mick and Keith soon...

The 69-year old has been a busy man this year after having had twins with his wife Sally this summer, not long after the band had played to an audience of more than a million people in Cuba.

Where does he get the energy from?"

And who is able to go in? How much people to go in? 500, 1000, max.1500?
A lot of VIP's?
And about regular fans (collectors from allover the world) who made them great due to buy; LP's, CD's, Video's, who are NOT able to pay exstreamly high prices for such gigs.
Thanks Ronnie Wood, I hope you read this.

Well I live in what Ronnie calls the "provinces" of England. Our village hall has very good availability and space for 100 or so. It has a little kitchen so cups of tea would be available but no licence so you'd have to bring your own beer. Not sure about the acoustics but it's good enough for the kids birthday party discos.

Ahhh the perpetual conundrum - it would be so lovely for the people who were able to get in!
They should work it so no one could attend more than (for example) two shows, to make room for more of us

This would be fantastic. I just hope all fans willing/wanting to go would be able to get in. I can imagine how sublime the whole experience would be. Almost too good to be real.

Had to chuckle at that bit in the Ole Ole documentary where Mick's ribbing him about not being able to keep a secret and they're all laughing .

It's an old politician's trick. Say the unthinkable every now again and (amid the outrage) see what actually sticks.

Sorry I think I mentioned politics there. Naughty me.

Hang on a moment until I have negotiated the motion picture rights with my local village hall committee. They are a tough bunch and may want to hold out for a full kitchen refurb. Think they'll take a microwave and a dishwasher though.

An old trick indeed, but the news is that it is Ronnie doing it on behalf of the Glimmers smiling smiley

Ronnie
a series of intimate clubs around the "provinces" of England.

Well, in 2012 the two shows at the O2 were visited by aproximately 32.000 fans.
If they'd want to serve all these fans in small clubs (capacity 600?), they'd have
to make it a 53 venues tour in the UK. That's about four months at the rate of 3 shows
a week.

I don't think all fans will have a chance to see them in intimate clubs in England.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

I believe if they only announced this to the fan base and we didn't go public, there is a chance we'd all get in. Keep the tourist out. There's a way to do anything if you want it.

There are more than one million fans reading this page alone, so there may be a bit of a hustle to get tickets.

Greets,

Sorry, my attempt at mild sarcastic humour didn't work. Truly the lowest form of wit and I won't do it again. I was just poking fun at the "true fan" mentality...

Anyway, so pleased that you and others you mentioned could come to the UK to see the Stones in 2012 and 2013. Hopefully 2017 as well...

[Phew! At this point I could have made a sarcastic comment about the current political situation...but I didn't. I'm learning]

If such a thing were to happen the Stones would have to man up and charge accurate prices for shows like what Ronnie has in mind: about a $15 cover.
