On a somewhat related note, I don’t get the UK’s fascination with that cheesy Elvis record (The Wonder of You) with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

It only got to #47 in the United States and that is too high as far as I’m concerned.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I remember reading an article claiming that UK has the largest Elvis' fanbase worldwide.

prove it...a little less conversation, a little more action please.

I've got a lot o' livin' to do, treacle. But that's allright, just because I'm not lookin' for trouble.

Wonder if Rockman bought the NEW album by ELVIS (The Rockin' Machine).

I'll wait for CHUCK's new album next year.

In the UK this could be their biggest non compilation seller since what, Undercover?

200,000 - Between the Buttons (17)
175,000 - Their Satanic Majesties Request (19)
350,000 - Beggars Banquet (9)
725,000 - Let It Bleed (4)
800,000 - Sticky Fingers (3)
875,000 - Exile on Main St (1)
260,000 - Goat Head Soup (13)
175,000 - It’s Only Rock‘n Roll (18)
225,000 - Black and Blue (14)
425,000 - Some Girls (7)
300,000 - Emotional Rescue (12)
400,000 - Tattoo You (8)
200,000 - Undercover (16)

As I mentioned earlier, you can not and should not be compared to previous albums.
More than half are now downloaded illegally. Therefore, the current sale of B. L. a great achievement.
Gr Bert.

Zoals ik al eerder vermelde, je kan en mag niet vergelijken met vroegere albums. Meer als de helft wordt tegenwoordig illegaal gedownload. Daarom is de huidige verkoop van B.L. een geweldige prestatie.
Gr Bert.

UK Midweek Update (Friday/Tuesday)

1 Michael Ball and Alfie Boe - Together [77.5k]
2 Little Mix - Glory Days [51.8k]
3 Elvis Presley - The Wonder Of You [50.3k]
4 The Rolling Stones - Blue & Lonesome [40.7k]
5 Olly Murs - 24 HRS [39.1k]

Over 216,000 copies sold for B&L in the UK so far, a success not expected by anyone in homeland.

This was the last midweek update for the next 10 days or so, it won't be any updates until Jan 3-4, only the final charts on both Friday's (23-30)

1 million worldwide?
...I think so....

According to Mediatraffic, which usually underestimate about 5-10% of the total sales, it has sold 795,000 copies during the first 2 weeks.

So, around 850,000 during the first two weeks is a good estimated. It will be well over 1 million by this week's end.

B&L Vinyl LP is sold out now in Amazon Uk and here in Portugal as well!

Considering the differences between decades (I mean as for the level of the sales), considering how the sales have been reduced, I think B&L easily stays among the 10 if not the 8 "best sellers"...

In Belgium the LP was very hard to find, and still is. My local store got none till now.

The LP is hard to find here in Norway, but the CD and the CD Deluxe are still available in the stores.

Germany´s biggest media chain - MediaMarkt
has B&L at No. 1 for the 2nd week. There´s
an official chart table to No. 100.

Here´s the CD shelf from yesterday...looks good being No. 1.

Very interesting sales figures....many thanks.
I hadn't realised that GHS and IORR had, in comparison to the Exile double set, such poor sales (in the UK that is).
This was a few years before punk hit the scene of course.
And they were doing plenty of concerts, so still high profile.

Blue & Lonesome is #4 in the UK this week, selling 57,483 copies.
In only 3 weeks, the album has sold 233,224 copies in Britain and ranks #17 on the year to date chart, with 9 more days of sales to go in 2016, an impressive performance.

Another fact: according to Universal, B&L accumulated scans of 507,000 units worldwide during the first week (Dec. 1-8), that's about 6% more than the report from Media Traffic (477,000), just like I said their numbers are 5-10% less than the real ones.

But in the [www.offiziellecharts.de] B&L is still #3 for the 3rd week (23-Dec-2016).

Now it's time for 1 million worldwide!

It seems like the "milestone" of 1 million worldwide will be fact with third week's numbers, even by the reduced ( a bit...) statistics of Media Traffic. According to MT, B&L does need 205,000 more copies sold, for that, after the second week. And we have 57,000 + from UK, one more #1 in the Netherlands which does correspond to 50,000 approximately and a promising #3 in a huge market, as Germany is.

One million copies sold after only three weeks, a really amazing performance for the today sales level. Just an example: According to Media Traffic statistics about the 40 top selling albums of 2015, the positions 24 - 40 had been overwhelmed by albums with sales under 1 million. Sold, not after a few weeks necessarily, may be after many months...

Any number from Germany, Netherlands and France, georgelicks? I mean copies sold on 3rd week, not chart positions (which are known - and nery good- as for Germany and Netherlands).

"...The Rolling Stones’ Blue & Lonesome rises 10-9 with 52,000 units (up 21 percent)..."

Third week at Top 10 in the US with over 218,000 copies sold so far.
