give keith 3 songs instead of 2?
Posted by: Turner68 ()
Date: May 31, 2015 20:23

we know that keith is willing to play non-warhorse songs.
perhaps he should have 3 instead of 2?

it would go against the "sticky fingers" theme, however it would create more variety and excitement.

he has loads of songs that haven't been overplayed and would go over really well. little t&a, all about you, sleep tonight (would be a great song for closing the whole set, before coming back for the big encore), connection...

what do you think?

Nope. And its nothing against Keith. But really, you can only handle 2 of them in a chunk. More than that and people grow beyond restless, even a hardcore like myself. I have nothing against Keith, but he's not energetic enough and the songs in general are lesser known and of slower quality. There's too much other good stuff to play, and thats including warhorses.

Really the only thing that should happen is Keith should switch them up more and not have two that are set for the leg. He should be playing stuff like Comin Down Again, Thru and Thru, Can't Be Seen and stuff with more variety. But he shouldn't get more songs.

hmm what if he broke them up? mick and he could do a faster one - say happy, connection, or before they make me run together, and then in the keith break still do 2, for a total of 3?

I thought about that as I was typing but no, I still think they do only 20 songs that giving Keith 3 is a lot. I would only say if you're talking about true Mick/Keith then yes, give one slot to that, then Keith with his usual 2. Seeing Mick and Keith at the same mic doing Happy would obviously be really cool and keep the show upbeat. And then I think its fair and not too much for Keith to get 2 solo on his own with the band. But anything more than 2 solo Keith vocals, even if they are split up throughout the show, seems too much for me. Its really a testament to Jagger that he's such a highlight of the show that I think him being gone for 3 songs is too much. He's too good and Keith isn't good enough to hold his own energy wise without Mick.

No. If anything must be changed give him 1 instead of 2.

Do you guys pay attention? He did 3 on last years tour, mostly to give Micks voice a rest when it was failing. He did fine with that, and I assume he picks what he's going to do. He did Happy again last night, which is still great, but he likes the slow melodies too.

If it's only a 20 song set, 2 is fine. I really think how Keith survives this tour will determine the future touring of this band. I think stadiums are done and they'll become a theater, special performance band, which will be fine for us deep cut junkies, if we can afford tickets.

I am all for the return of the 3 song Richards lead vocal section.

All 3 should add up to around 15 minutes give or take. I don't think that he should do 3 x six minute ballads. That would be too much but,15 minutes would be great.

Like I have said in the past,I would rather listen to ANY Richards lead vocal Stones song instead of "Miss You" , "You Got Me Rocking" , the modern day pre-programmed "Sympathy for the Devil" , most of this century's versions of "Honkey Tonk Women" and "Tumbling Dice" etc. . Give me "Thief in the Night" instead. PLEASE.

I say Keith should sing all the songs.

Let Jagger do the vocals on a solo tour.

No.
One solosong by Keith is enough and we could have more KR backup vocals on STICKY FINGERS songs like he did on The Fonda theatre show last week where NONE KR solosongs were played.

Even could bring the setlist back to 18 songs. Everybody HAPPY!!!!

The only way I would ever say "yes" is if the slow number was "Coming Down Again" or "Sleep Tonight".

I would welcome more of Keith and Mick singing together, don't really care who is in the lead spot, but I always loved those moments when Keith gets super inspired, charges up to the microphone and belts out some harmony vocals. His microphone technique wasn't always the best but it always ended up supporting the song in a delightful way. Much better than Lisa's over the top approach.

A true duet with Mick and Keith would be delightful. For instance Wild Horses would have been better for me with just the guys singing.

peace

sounds good to me. i think either would be a good way to close the show.... then a couple minutes later band comes back with mick for a big encore, maybe a chuck berry song.

i was thinking the same thing! he could do that and still be well-rested for his rhythm guitar playing in the main set.
