Everybody needs the 4.06
No problem. I like your book very much. But I know it is hard to dig all thing single handed. Anyway, drop me a line if you need info on those German London CDs. I made a small research on that topic for fun. Issues-reissues-misprints etc.Quote

Sorry! Corrections are always welcome...
Correct. I am just tired of typing . And I am not a big fan of later re-issues.Quote

The 2002 ABKCO "Englands Newest Hitmakers" + the 2010 digital version of the UK debut, features a different fade as well.
4:05.65 on 2002 SACD-DSD remaster England's Newest Hit Makers (93752 US) (fade out late, but no cold ending)Quote

Can Ironbelly please let me know where Version V (late fade out, 2002) is to be found. Thank you very much for your message.
Alex.

The first song Mick and Keith wrote together. Keith has since changed "or forgot" his story and now says it's "As Tears Go By".

Ironbelly,
your study seems to be very well done. I'd be very glad to co-operate and you've my private e-mail, on the book. I'm sure we could find a fair way to mention your research and present it the way it is : yours.
All the best, the Learning Archivist

Yup, and in Sweden it were the 2:48 version on a EP that was the common one...
were was wasp...who knows when it's put right...grumble grumble...
But is it really an early alternative take that was included on the UK LP by mistake or so called 'single edit' with instrumental part after 2nd chorus edited out?Quote

Yeah Yeah Yeah -
The Old "Tell Me" - Story !
I´m sure that everything has been told before, - but this is
a classic Stones-Story, - that can´t be told too often !
On officially releases :
An alternate take, - 2.52, was released, - probably by mistake, -
on very early pressing-runs of the the No.1, - only to be identified by the
matrix-number.
The "real Tell Me" - soon replaced the alternate take, - running 4.08 -
with an abrupt ending !
This edit was later replaced by the "normal" faded edit 3.48, - still
the same take, -
and it had numerous runningtimes, - from 3.15, - on a French EP, -
to 3.54 on a German London-CD-release.
Whether it´s 3.15, -3.47, - 3.54 - or whatsoever, - it´s STILL the same take !
In the US - and other countries, - it was edited to a 7" version, - mainly
removing the instrumental part, - to a labeled runningtime 2.35.
Those can vary from 2.35 - to 2.43 - but basically the same edit !
"Tell Me" - a Great Song ! ! !

Plus
- 2002 edit of 4.05 or 4.08 version with late fade out. Not equivalent to previous 3.15, -3.47, - 3.54 - or whatsoever edit. Appeared on SACD releases after 2002.

So called "new ABKCO" version appeared on 2002 remasters. SACD hybrid discs from 2002 and their redbook reissues from 2006, japanese mini vinyls etc.
It is a compromise between 4.05 and 3.54 versions. Just slightly different fade out. It fades a bit later than the "old ABKCO" but does not cold end as on the first version of London CD.
Try to A->B any version from old ABKCO CD and SACD like EU version with catalog # 8822872.
That is the same take, but different fade. So, you know, you can call it a different edit of 4.05 version.
