This could be one of the very few times they didn't pick the best version for the record! Although my opinion is probably tempered by the fact I've heard the original so many times before and this one is fresh and interesting.

That's what's amazing: that it sounds so hot and fresh and interesting and ...even current confused smiley Hell yeah!!

Well, it received the ordinary "viagra" treatment ...

Just wait a couple of weeks and everybody will complain that it sounds brickwalled etc.

Most people (me included) say they like the alternate version more, so it might be true.

As for me: I also like the alternate Dead Flowers and Brown Sugar more than the studio versions of those songs:

Absolutely awesome! I love the original Bitch, but this one is even better. This band is, well, the world's greatest rock-n-roll band ever!

Great Hot Rocking version. !!!
Jeroen

Mick already adlibs the Yeah! Yeah! and Yeah! at the end, but it's not finished to the official climax of (the) BITCH yet.

It's really going to be telling for me how much brickwalling happens with the SF re-release. I'm hoping that they are not so concerned about how loud this record sounds after playing a Taylor Swift tune and since all the streaming sites are using normalization to equalize the relative volume levels anyway, they will master it with plenty of dynamic range! (Sticky) Fingers crossed on this one.

not bad, but to me it sounds rather like a working version…
I wonder how many people will prefer this version to in original version – with two years distance…?

I'm pretty sure I'll always dig the ridiculously swinging last half of this take thumbs up thumbs up

If this alternate version was the first release, and the original the alternate, you could ask the same. It's all about "brainwashing" yourself.

I don't know why so many of you compare this one to the official released version, and why this one is, or is not, better then that one. That version is the final version and should be.

This is a working version, in development, but on its own it is a great outtake. Very glad this is released. I don't compare this early take to the finished product, in a way if this is better or not. It is a great look in the kitchen, and I hope to see more.

Agreed! But they were just warming up there smiling smiley

One of the songs that always works in concert, btw, except when Gary Clark is singing...

I agree with those who conclude that this version, while fun and really enjoyable as a listen, is hardly the final version and not in any manner better.

It's a working version, and do not let the "starved" feeling enable you to place it above the original version of 44 years ago.

I agree. It is a fun version but the official release is definitely the better take and a far more powerful song. This version swings, it is just missing the 'punch' of the final version.

Glad they put it out!

Eggzactly ... like the many that brainwash themselves into thinking this version is better than the masterful official release, just because they original has been played to death and they forget just how great it is.

Great version, but still not as good as the official.

There are many ways of being better. Of course, this wasn't ready for release on the original SF. But the energy is better here in this unfinished version.

Original 'Bitch' is still the better one...An all acoustic version would have been more exciting.

It's certainly a lot of fun to hear all those rhythm variations, each one
conveying the rhythm yet igniting the song like a lead break.

He played most of those variations on the version of Bitch with Herbie Mann and at various points on the '72 tour, probably most extensively at one of the Phil. shows.

The final variation, during the last 25 secs or so, seems to come from his rhythm guitar on SFM in '72/'73.

Great version, very groovy!!
Can someone telling who plays the solo?
Because somehow it sounds like Keef for me, but it's on the left/Taylor-side.
Mick Taylor?

It's Keith, just like on the album version. They even kept some of the licks from this version on SF.

Wait.. So keef is on The left and mick plays The rhythm guitar on the right side?
:O
What?!

Whichever is left and right, it's definitely Keith on Chuck Berry-influenced lead and Mick T on rhythm guitar.

Of course, that's basic Stones knowlegde. Though Taylor's rhythm guitar has some lead aspects in it because it's so defining the song.

I wonder if MT wrote the Riff. Keith has never claimed he wrote the riff all these years. He said I believe he came by after his lunch and the band was playing Bitch and they sounded awful and he joined in and bang - magic.

I think it was Glyn (or Andy) who said that. If memory serves, he said that they lacked the riff prior to Keith joining in, but I'm not sure.

Had Taylor written the riff, he would definitely have deserved songwriting credits, imo, as its so dominant in the song.

I haven't heard him claiming it, either, though.
