...How come Rene isn't authoring this thread? I recall in my early IORR ignorance starting a Track Talk thread and getting beat up pretty badly ...

Also, it is a Jagger/Richards/Wood composition. The track was considered as an alternate to "Harlem Shuffle."

I QUITE LIKED “STRICTLY MEMPHIS.” REMEMBER THAT ONE? Yeah. What usually happens is I have a bunch of work cassettes from way back. I put my hand in and I pull ‘em out and I put ‘em on, and there’s a song that I’d almost forgotten. And then I start to work on it again. It’s like a great wine cellar!! You can just keep delving in there, and there’s always something. Whatever the record ends up being, it’s the tip of an iceberg. If there’s 1 5 tracks on a record, there’s probably hundreds of other ideas and bits, some of them finished and some of them half-constructed, on the way, and you try and stay in touch with them.

Jagger made a tape with Primitive Cool outtakes for the band members of his 1987/1988 solo band to rehearse. It included a finished version of Strictly Memphis, which is just truly outstanding
WHERE's this version ??? ...wanna hear it

Me too!
But I am confused.
How can Strictly Memphis be a Primitive Cool outtake? It's from Dirty Work, two years earlier.
Is this a STONES-version or a version of STRICTLY MEMPHIS recorded for Primitive Cool with other muscicians?

The tape he did for the session musicians was outtakes from PC -rough demo songs with only drum machines etc- and the Stones version of SM. This version sounds very much like a final version, fit for release.
