Amazing. Just amazing. And weird to see Brian on Jagger's right, not left as usual.

Actually the whole band is on one side of Mick. I think it's because if you watch earlier in the clip you'll see several drum kits set up for the different bands. Assuming the Stones went on last, Charlies drum kit was set up on the far left of the stage from the audience point of view.
I first noticed this set up when watching the 65 NME awards show that was posted here earlier. During The Animal's set, from the audience's view, Eric Burdon is singing to the right of drummer John Steel but Alan Price, Chas Chandler and Hilton Valentine are all to the left. I must say the Animals sure were exciting to watch in that clip!

Nice detective work Agent DGA35. thumbs up

It seems all of the amps are on centre to right of the stage. hence all musicians using them needed to be beside or close to them.

The drums, for most acts, was set up on the same drum riser placed in centre of stage.

Is that photographer and friend Michael Cooper in the Anita/Marianne photo?
And the woman standing behind Anita.....any ideas?

Yes, no idea who the other people are though.

This is truly incredible to have in color, given that apparently no members of the audience took any color stills during the show.

Also, thanks to many who have posted previously (to me) unseen pix of the Stones at the gig. If there are more, please post or kindly direct me to where I can see them.

Wow!

This is what the uploader (Lester Cunningham) wrote in the comments section:

"Sorry no audio. I was 18 and borrowed my friends standard 8 camera. My dad died the same morning, but music is life!"

If this was shown on Beatclub isn't there a good chance that it's in their files somewhere. Beatclub and German TV in general were superb in keeping historic recordings like this. I have a mate who is a professional music film researcher so shall ask him to investigate.

Are you sure this was shown on Beatclub? I understand from the article that the promo film for 2,000 lightyears was shown on Beatclub, whereas the NME recording was shown in the UK (Time for Blackburn).

It would make more sense to do Research in the Southern TV archives or the TV archives of the Station which broadcast Time for Blackburn..

What was shown on Beatclub was the clip of 2000 Light Years From Home.

Yes, Rockman has sort of blanked out the Beat Club entry and, besides, the episode of Beat Club is three days two months before the NME concert.

Two months, actually. (march 9, 1968)

What would really be interesting is to hear those 3 minutes (audio) of JJF from the NME concert that at least two IORRers (Gazza being one of them) mentioned to have on their old cassettes, in some previous NME 1968 threads.

I haven't found any other mention in the board, but there is a silent 35 seconds footage of the Stones at the NME concert in 1968!

It is recorded on standard 8 camera.

Here it is!

Do you know what songs were played apart from Jumpin' Jack Flash?

Satisfaction.

I thought Brian used to stand on the left (as we face the band).

It marks the very beginning of the "modern" Stones as we know and love them! Jumpin' Jack Flash changed everything. If they ever turn the Stones story into a movie, it would be awesome to see this event recreated.

Oh yeah? To me they look soooo "it's 1967 feel the good vibes" on this footage. To me again the birth of the mdoern more aggressive looks start with the JJF promo vid.

The amps were all placed at the right hand side. I guess he heard himself better over there.

Andrew Steele, the drummer for The Herd, played in my band for a while.
This is going back... early '90s maybe.
He was much older than us, so I guess he just wanted to get out and play.
I don't remember him mentioning this gig, and he knew I was a huge Stones fan.
Maybe I didn't know he was on the bill at the time or maybe he didn't mention it.
Good drummer. Had some great stories about the London scene back then.
