A classic, and a perfect opener, imo. A song that the band still play excellently.
However, the best live version I've heard is the one from Stripped.
Nothing tops the Taylor live performances. As to the one on Get Yer Ya Ya’s Out, I prefer the one from another MSG 1969 show. The one seen in the movie Gimme Shelter where Mick shouts “ We gotta go”, at the end.Quote

A killer tune, Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out version with Mick Talor remains unsurpassed, as Taylor maintains an incredible rhythmic tension with Keith without ever wavering.
Unfortunately, Ronnie rarely does this.

The most amazing thing about SFM is that Keith got the beat of the "Pinpon-pinpon"
from the police cars in France. Keith, a real artist/alchemist,turns ugly into beauty; what a genius!!!

What on earth is 'pinpon-pinpon'? Police sirens?
Yes it is.

It is a tribute to the first R&R song written(1957) in french by Boris Vian and Henri Salvador "Rock and Rollmops".Quote

Thank you for clarifying, rollmops!
I can almost hear them wailing now!
By the way: is your username a direct reference to the fishy, Dutch delicacy of the same name?

That is fantastic.
Except for 1994 it's a song they've always played fantastically. Arguably with myself my favorite live version is the MSG 2003 one, which is on... LICKED LIVE IN NYC (and oddly not on LIVE LICKS, which is a rather strange choice to be the edited Twickenham performance on FOUR FLICKS).
At 3:57 Charlie reads Keith... it's subtle.
Mick has had better singing in the past, going high, getting those raging notes, but overall (the one goof Keith had has been fixed) this is stellar. Hilarious ending... it just calmly falls apart.
Hello gas
Can you be more specific about what you mean by Charlie reading Keith?

In 1981 I had a little radio show on Radio Plus; I called it "ROLLMOPS". People started to call me Rollmops. After that I became a member of a regional popular little R&R band "3 Time Loser" and the name stucked with me. Silly nickname but it symbolises lot of good times to me so I keep it. That is the story Big Al. I am a chef and I don't really like the sweetness, creaminess with salty herring filets.

Ha! How wrong I was; although isn't it a coincidence that you do happen to be a chef. It isn't entirely unsurprising that you may not like the food, 'rollmops' It's certainly an acquired taste. Oh, and I was incorrect about the origin: it's German, apparently.

The name is of German origin, but pickled herring is eaten in just about entire Europe: East, West, Scandinavia. In Italy, Greece and Spain they pickle anchovies and sardines instead of herring.
Fantastic with salads, and with beer on a hot afternoon.

This is probably the only argument on this site where I can compete with Mathijs. In Italy we don't pickle fish, we marinate it (with vinegar or lemon). If we want to preserve, we generally use oil.
And, for chrissakes, white wine!!
