Hate to say it but that was disappointing.

Mick's guitar and vocal, Chuck's piano and even Keith's fills were so inferior to the recorded version that I was cringing, hoping it would get better ...but it never did. Yep, Nicky Hopkins is hard to replace for this one.

It's like Mick is too pumped up for a Rollings Stones show to properly get into the slow country groove required for this tune. Maybe it's just hard to sing about a beautiful buzz when you haven't had one in a while. This one would be better with Mick and Keith sitting on chairs with the house lights down a bit.

But I love them for trying and hope they learn how to nail this one live. peace

I would love to witness a close-Glimmer-harmony version, of course, but this version was very pretty.

If you ask me, they did a bloody good job on this one... Although I would have loved to have heard Keith on backing vocals instead of Lisa and Bernard, like on the album version. Personally, I think incorporating backing vocalists into their live act was the worst mistake the Stones ever made. As great as Lisa and Bernard are, there's always been something magical about hearing Mick and Keith singing together, and unfortunately they don't do it all that much anymore, because they have backing vocalists to do Keith's job for him now. Oh well, you can't always get what you want! And yeah, Nicky Hopkins is basically irreplaceable, but Chuck still killed it.. At least in my opinion. What a lovely version.

an obvious answer, but, seriously, why *wouldn't* Keith sing with Mick on this song? It really

Probably so, Dandy, tho it was nice to see Keith mouthing the words to Loving Cup (and grinning)

More ballad than the studio version, hopefully gets in the rotation with Angie and Wild Horses.

Ugh, too fast and no real soul in it.

I'm sure it was great for the people who saw it live though.

Good on The Stones for doing it.

I was quite happy with it.

Loving Cup sounds beautiful! Great singing. I like the little things Keith plays from about 2:30 onwards. That's him too at the end, is it, the a bit Spanish(?) sounding guitar that you can also hear at 2:40, but less prominent?
