(Acoustic )guitar question
Posted by: bartman ()

Hi to all guitarplayers here,

I want to buy myself new (semi)acoustic guitar. The price is max €400. It's just a guitar for home session. I don't play in a band. Maybe in the future.

I want to know wich guitar I can take the best. I looked for Epiphone, Garrison and Richwood. I'm not familiar to Richwood. They seem to be very cheap, so I don't know if it's a good quality.

So, I hope someone can help me wich guitar to buy

maybe try ibanez, or a cheaper fender
a good price/qualitiy i think is clarity
with a little bit of luck you might find a second hand takamine

quality is not always the price . The best thing to do : try, try, try till you're happy with the guitar. You 'll feel it. My cheap enough Ibanez is really good. I had some more expensive. (I choose to sell them the year after.) The other solution is to have one's made to measure, but it's better to be pro.

Stay clear of Fender acoustics, they are horrible. Best is to check Ebay for a second hand Taylor, these can be fetched for $400, and are truly good.

I have to agree with Mathijs. I have loved acoustic 12 strings and dabbled with them for nearly 30 years now. About 8 years ago, I invested in an acoustic Fender 12 strings, banking on the name for a guarantee. What a mistake!

Yeah Baby Taylor. Excellent quality £350 or so new.

You'll know what's best for you when you play it - but try the Taylor first...

Ian.

i didn´t mean fender 12string

12 string is a other league(taylor is incredible). you have to pay more.

i´ve got a martin 6 string
is the best ever played,
but its very expensive.(sold my old car for this):-)

For an inexpensive model, I always had the best luck with Epiphone.
Stay away from Fender and Takamine acoustics.
If you can save a bit more, get a Gibson acoustic. THe make the best ones.
Sorry, MArtin lovers. They never did anything for me.

it´s probably just a point of view (sound u like)
the main reason should be,that the guitar fits with your hands

sorry ´bout my @#$%& english tonight

Shezeboss seems to follow the advice I have seen from profetionals, try them, others do not know what you are actually looking for. The entire acoustic sound of JJ Cale is played on a $50.00 used Harmony acoustic with 5 pickups glued in, so it's in the ear of the beholder.

One point not covered is that they make 'Acoustic' amps specific to the enhancements for semi-acoustic guitars. You are buying an electric as well and any music shop test should include plugging it in to one of these and running it through the effects.

I play a Limited Edition Ovation Celebrity Deluxe. Not the best started guitar.

Hi Bartman, for some odd reason I have had the worst experience with Fender Accoustics. There's tghe big name and all, but as far as Acc. go they suck. The main "house" guitar I have right now is a black Fender 6 string Accoustic and mnan is it a lousy guitar. Yes price doesn't mean jack, but it's still a guideline. It's actually fairly common to find good deals in the papers etc.
Martin, Takamine, Ibanez, Gibson, Epiphone etc

If you wanna use it on the road as well, I can recommend the Washburns; Reasonable prices and decent sound. And great to play on.

I have three takamines and always keep one in the car.

Yamaha also makes good acoustic guitars. But as stated above, the most important thing is to just try out some models in a store. And then go to another store and try out some more. I would never buy a guiter through eBay without being able to play it first. Even if it is a Martin.

Good work guys and gals....seem to have recommended or trashed about all the major brands....did that help Bartman?

Yeah, thank you all. There are so may (good)brands. It's hard to choose.

I hope I find a good one for a good price. I like Epihone very much. I think it's just a matter how you think the guitar plays and sounds.

Reptile,

I looked for the Epiphone Es335. Is that a semi acoustic or an archtop?

I like Ibanez also very much. Like this one

this is the AEG10E. Nice body. Not to big.
