The video is not very good quality. I would say Hampton is better. The sound is great to my ears. Didn't buy the vinyl because I'm not happy about the exclusion of 4 songs. This I would say is an "exploitation of extreme fans". Then again maybe casual fans would buy this? Anyhow, I'm satisfied with the CD/DVD set.

Thanks. The CD/LP is the show from the 13th that we already have, right?

Yes, the same as the archive FLAC release that most of bought last year. Nice to have it on silver discs with nice artwork package of course. Well worth the price in my opinion. But I don't believe it's necessary to buy the vinyl. Sorry to the sales people reading this. However, I would have bought it if the 4 missing songs were there and maybe it was color vinyl. I'm a sucker for that. While I'm at it I'll admit I like gimmicks like 3D lenticular stuff. Enjoy the new release everyone.smileys with beer

Mick wore different clothes. There is no debate.

Maybe not a full-blown debate, but many fans and collectors (such as me) are asking whether their old tapes/CD-R's are misdated or if the sleeve notes got it wrong.

I thought that was settled several pages ago, when a poster here pointed out Mick's different stage clothes on those dates. Green on the 12th, if memory serves.

The Stones got it wrong. it's July 11 July 11 July 11 July 11 July 11...

Semi-OT but I'm currently listening to the actual July 12 partial audience tape made by Mike Millard. Keith is so high in the mix it's almost a rock guitar clinic! smileys with beer

I don't get it, Back in the old days I traded quite a few copies of VHS-tapes cause I was looking for the lowest possible generation. Some of them were labeld July 10, others July 11, and the remainder July 12.

I find it hard to believe that the folks that were responsible for this release didn't manage to print the correct date on the cover. There's simply no reason to give wrong information but a few of you guys seem to know it better. Would be great if there's a proof but to write "July 11, July 11" is a bit weird.

Well, the booklet on Hampton attributes the sax solo on Waiting On A Friend to Bobby Keys. So maybe it ain't people sharpest on Stones history putting these things together.

FRANKOTERO: Maybe the video is not as good as Hampton, but it's head and shoulders above the murky boot of the show we're used to, right?

Yes, 24FPS the video is best to date in my opinion. Also I said the audio is great. Overall I like this release, minus the vinyl option. Still I wish the video was better like most of us I suspect. But I will survive fine with this thank you.

Another thought before I become too old and tiring (cynical). Today I joked with a friend that there is probably enough space on the records for Heartbreaker, Wild Horses and Billy's Set but they won't give it to us. That's their way of doing business. For what it's worth I still love the music but I'm very selective about any investments at this stage.

Oops sorry, I did not see this very interesting link to dated photos from all five L.A.75-gigs. Considered the photos are dated right, we have another proof for July 11.

Hi jpasc95. Sorry I don't have that title. I did have it on a different label but gave it to a friend. I can tell you this new release is noticeably better. Again, it's worth to buy it just not excellent as I hoped. As long as you know that first I think you will enjoy it more. By the sample given on the internet I had higher hopes.

frankotero,
I bought it 2 or 3 weeks ago and I should receive it in a few days
Still I'm sure this new one will be better than the previous versions even if it's the show from july 11th.

Goddamn what a fantastic release! The CD is the 13th, so quite rediculous they released that again. DVD is 11th, and man what an improvement over the boots we had so far! We all know the 11th wasn't the best show of the tour, but now with this fantastic sound and fantastic video this show is hot as hell! The audio is better than the audio from the 13th in my opinion. There's less compression, especially on the guitars and drums, which make the snare have that Charlie crackle and pop, and which makes Richard's guitar sounds like a razor blade. The images are much improved as well. Yes its from the 1970's with lots of red and blue, but there's many more camera's than we had before, and the image is much, much clearer. What a fantastic release! What a fantastic show and tour!

So, to summarize:

--DVD July 11 [a.k.a. the "bad" show; No Blu-ray (yet?)]
--CD July 13 [same as previously issued digitally]
--LP July 13 [lacking 4 songs: Heartbreaker, Wild Horses, Outta Space, That's Life; is this 2LPs or 3LPs?]

Are all these releases labeled as taking place July 12th???

Until now I had never seen this footage, so I love this release. Fantastic stuff! Great quality, too. This is spectacular!

Two questions for the experts out there:

Was this originally filmed on video tape (which in 1975 would probably have been three-quarter-inch U-matic tape)? The bright lights that temporarily "burn" into the picture are typical of video footage from that era.

Are there more shots of Bill in the raw footage that was circulating on VHS?

I got the complete 4 LP in the Ward box version from Japan. It's there, but you have to pay a lot to get it. It just depends what you are willing to spend.

By the way, I watched the dvd from L.A. this afternoon and it's awsome!

Much better picture then all the bootleg versions I have seen and in super sound quality.
Keith's guitar sounds briliant and Ron's solos are exellent too.

Edit: I watched it again this evening and loved every minute of it. I think for an ca 40 years old video recording this is a realy good release and one to watch over and over again.

I bought this release (DVD + 2 CD) yesterday and left this thread while watching Fingerprint File leaving a message.

My "review" of LA Forum 1975 DVD follows after two copy-pastes from above by Maindefender and Mathijs.

Mine not arriving until next week, surprised no reviews from those who have already. Great time to be a Stones fan!!!

Bought it today in a musicshop in The Netherlands, the DVD and 2 CD version. I am watching right now. Fingerprint File with Mick on guitar and Bill on Syntheziser.

Have the specialists already come to a final conclusion what date the video is from and what date the audio and is it the same as the download album LA Friday?

No. Just hurry up and give us a review.

Yeah, not the play by play....lol. "Micks running around the stage now, Wyman is back on the bass"....thanks, take luck...haha

Great release indeed. It shows The Rolling Stones how they were in 1975! Oooooheeiyoowihiie Weeeehwhiiee! A bit too much energy for me at 50 now but when I was 16-18 I bought all the bootlegs I could find from 75-76 and danced in my bedroom hung with Stones-posters all night long.
Jagger was an athletic back then. Watch him doing his excersises on stage instead off backstage!!! There's so much to watch. Billy Preston.... well Well, I don't know....imagine Mick dancing this way with Daryll during Miss You today.... drinking smiley
All in all a must have for everybody.thumbs up

Just received my vinyl and cd sets from Amazon. It opens with the Dragon and Fanfare and there's also brief but crystal clear backstage footage of them about to get on stage. Far superior to anything we've ever seen of this show on bootleg. There's no editing of Keith's face during Happy but he is completely out of it. Who'd have thought we'd have this officially released? Enjoy.

Agreed; this past 2 weeks have been amazing as a Stones fan - the Hampton and LA Forum releases have huge replay value; Hampton was a major revelation. I had liked the '81 tour but never watched it that often; I have the official LSTNT, Seattle, Houston and Wembley DVD boots, but Hampton official 2 weeks ago was a sterling release! Watched it almost 3 times in the time it's come out.

LA Forum, what can I say, bloody marvellous! The 1975 tour was my least favourite until the official audio release "LA Friday", which brought home to me just how good the band were; Jagger's 'singing' took away from some but the band could not be faulted. The DVD (I have 2 versions) were good, but this release is simply so much better; audio and visually. I never thought we would have these gems in our hands as official releases!
