It's Simple...these 4 in any order:
Let It Bleed
Sticky
Exile
Some Girls
By the way...the best engineered Stones album by farconsidering when and
where it was made is BLACK AND BLUE...hands down.
The worst is a toss up between these three:
Goats Head Soup: Made in a sub-par studio in Jamaica and instruments are completely out of tune.
Emotional Rescue: No depth...no bottom...sounds like someone smacking a tight napkin...crazy bad considering some of the tracks were from the Some Girls sessions which sounded amazing
Dirty Work: A complete lost producer and engineer...horrible engineering and mixing.

Do you find the instruments on GHS more out of tune than that of Exile?

Sub-par studio? Out of tune? Wrong on both.

Not wrong on both...I've read many interviews about this album with quotes from
Keith, Bill & Jagger who complain that they could never get everything in tune
because on a lot of the songs the guitars were laid down with the keyboards which were out of tune with each other and they laid down Bill's bass afterwards as he was a late arrival...as Bill said...if he tuned his bass to the guitars then he was out with the keyboards/piano...and if he tuned to the keyboard/piano...then he was out with the guitars.
Believe what you want...but if you are a musician...you can clearly hear it sounds warped.

But is it worse than Exile, which imo have more obvious out of tune guitars? All Down The Line for starters.

Goats Head Soup
Exile On Main Street
Some Girls
Emotional Rescue (really--I love this album! great variety IMHO)

This is a difficult question ... there are far more than five essential albums, but in the moment in my opinion, if it is restricted to five:
Exile on Main Street
Out Of Our Heads (UK Edition)
Sticky Fingers
Beggars Banquet
It's Only Rock'n Roll

I love the sound on ER. It's a beefed up and more balanced SG-sound with less trebly drums.

So, who is going to compile these statistics then? Dandelion?

Too bad the songs aren't quite as good. Love "Dance" though.
