Does anyone know where this is from? The stage doesn't look like the lotus stage

Billy was a helluva showman, but . . . what was up with the homo-erotic dancing??

Have you seen the official Hey Negrita-video? A sequel to that one, I presume...

I always was curious to know if Preston brought session men out for this part or if it was the Stones...Same thing for that "Let's send Mick into outer space!" bit on the L.A. Friday recording... Thanks!

Interesting that Ollie Brown is the main drummer while Charlie takes over percussion duties. Have to admit Keith and Ronnie do get pretty funky on this one.

I can't believe Keith allowed himself to be a backing musician for Billy Preston and had to play while Billy and Mick, um, danced together. Some money must have changed hands.

Oh please, they knew it was being filmed for a television broadcast. The Stones just aren't as uptight as some of their fans.

Keith had already been a backing musician for Billy on his Apple debut album. (And Taylor backed him in '73.)

On record (Keith). It's just odd to see him in a "support" role. Not that it's bad. Pretty funky band actually.

It is a good performance but it was very unusual for the Stones to let a non-Stone do any of their songs during a Stones show. Thank God Chuck doesn't get a solo spot in the middle of their recent shows. A Stones show should be a STONES show. I don't even like them having guest stars, though Eric Clapton and Sheryl Crow jelled with them nicely. A lot of the other ones were debacles.

Not on the '75 and '76 tours; it was de rigeur at every concert (afaik). Many of the reviews of the '75 US shows cited Billy's set as a highlight.

True, it was part of the tour set list but they never did anything like that before or after....

I'm more surprised by how many folks here have never seen this before. I mean, good grief, it's 38 years old and been in circulation for a *long* time.

I'm more surprised by folks here who'd make assumptions from a 3-word comment --
"good grief," indeed, and heavens to muragtroyd, while we're at it. I said Oh. My. Damn.
And I mean Oh. My. Damn. I didn't say, or mean, "Oh. My. Damn. how is it possible that
I've never seen this before" eye rolling smiley

Oh sorry, thought you were referring to the video, not the prior respondents. (Actually, I'm still uncertain lol.)

Billy was the support act for the Birmingham 73 concert and i still say he was the best support act i seen for the stones.

I am imagining the thread that would develop here in response if that happened.

I have vague memories of seeing this (was it 2 songs?) as part of the Stones concert at Leicester UK in 1976. Did he get this little "set within a set" at Knebworth that year?
I suppose Billy Preston was quite high profile at the time

I love that Jagger. Very cool. Over the top, the way he should be. One of his personas.

Damn the nadir of the band's 70's career? Spot Charlie's face at the beginning of the vi : it's the face of a man in pain...
