Nah , It doesn't go Yanga-dang , it goes Dang-da-da .
But I loved The Who .
For years, back in the day, they were my second band .
But they don't really exist any more do they ? I don't think Pete and Roger constitute The Who.
They got away with it when Keith sadly passed but without the Ox ?
One sad loss too many I'm afraid.
Are The Stones The Stones without Brian and Bill then?
Six members actually. Sorry I'm a huge fan of Ian S. Wonder what he would think of the band these days...Quote
gotdablouseGood point there were 5 of them to start with instead of 4 and they lost two members so it's not their fault they're down to two vs three ;-) And at the end of the day people go for Mick and Keith the same way they go for Roger and Pete. The difference of course is that Roger is not stalling all of Mick's ideas by claiming he has "two or three dynamite riffs", he just puts out solo albums ;-)Quote

Quite the reversal of fortunes (at least for the fans) when The Who were touring behind old material in 1989 and Mick was claiming left and right that there was no way he would tour without a new album...who would have thunk it would be down to this 30 years down the road ?

Just saw them 2 years ago in Vancouver. Great show, especially since it was a greatest hits show so I knew every song. Unlike the Stones, I don't have every Who album and mostly familiar with warhorses. Also, it was the best sounding concert I've heard in Rogers Arena!
If they come to town again, I'll probably go, depending on ticket prices.

I was there 9th row center and thought they tore the roof off the place. They played a 'full' show with 23 songs (most shows got 21 or 22, with some a few as 19) and busted out 'Acid Queen' for the first time since 1989, and played the not-too-frequent 'Pictures of Lily' as well.
I thought the band was on fire. Roger sounded about as good as he could for 2016, Pete was tight and energetic, and Zak played the hell out of his drumkit. I guess having 2 days off between shows instead of the usual 1 really paid off.
I saw them again 2nd weekend at Desert Trip and found them lacking compared to the Vancouver show.
Looking forward to the next 'symphonic' tour. Knowing Pete, it won't be shmaltz.

Was Endless Wire the last collection of PT songs to be released? Has he put out any solo stuff in the last decade or so?

I love so many stages of his work with the who, and his late 70s/early 80s solo stuff is just brilliant.

There will be 29 total concerts in North America. (Most of the shows are at arenas, though he mentioned the possibility of a stadium or two.)
I'm wondering in what American city are there are enough Who fans to fill a stadium? New York, I guess, but they really haven't been a stadium band for 30 years now, not since 1989, when they did the We Just Thought We'd Like To Come Back And Say Good-Bye Again tour. Even the idea of seeing them play arenas doesn't really appeal to me. Probably the only way I'd consider going would be if they did some intimate theater gigs.

talk of strings/orchestra makes me nervous. seldom turns out well. i think roger tried that & lost a bunch of money at one point. daltrey sings townshend. we'll see how this all develops. a residency at caesar's palace would be cool. it's a great room & when they did the mini residency there, the reports were good.

Expect a Las Vegas residency...after Elton John bows out.

Would the the Stones be the Stones if they lost Charlie? The Who lost their identity when Keith Moon died.
Because there are only 2 of them.Quote

If The Who can play 30 dates this year AND record and release a new album then,
why can't The Stones?
