I'm embarrassed to admit - but I still haven't made my mind up on what to do! I'm resigned to paying more for hotels and flights...

I thought I had finally made my decision and settled on Rome. It's so last minute for Paris now. And then I checked out the weather predictions...

Paris will be hot but not as bad as Rome. And I can't take heat and humidity well.

So now I'm trying to make my decision.

I've found a reasonably priced hotel near the Madeleine metro station. I don't think that's a direct link from Stade de France but I guess I could walk or get a cab from Gare St. Lazare?

Eurostar is far too expensive now so I'll fly in to CDG. I think someone here has already asked but do people know if the train strike will affect travel from CDG to central Paris and/or Stade de France?

Odean73 - I really hope you manage to find a buyer for your tickets. If I do go to Paris, I really want Pelouse Or or VIP so I don't think what you have is for me - sorry.

Thanks, Martha, fully understand people wanting better tickets, might go through the insurance now.

Trusting everything will work out for you and have a great time.

First, just looked at the new map and I was in one of the best seats
in Carre Or thus no waiting in long line when I arrived at 7PM. Great view
of the stage but no matter what seat you have in that big arena the excitement
level is worth the ticket!

To answer Powerage, yes, I enjoyed the show...It had several high points and Sympathy for the Devil was one of them. Charlie was on fire! However, I will
always cherish the 1969-73 concerts in the US and Europe which were mainly FANTASTIC! Stade de France was my first stadium concert with the Stones. I basically don't want to be bothered with stadiums.

Thanks for the updated map, still no catwalk/b-stage though, odd...

Martha, why don't you e-mail the hotel near the Madeleine and ask them
about the Metro connection to Stade de France and how long it will take?
Taxis get very expensive. I expect it will be no more than half an hour
on the Metro even if you transfer.

Yup Madeleine is on line 14, at St. Lazare take line 13, nine stops and voila! within 20 minutes you're at the SDF. A taxi is useless...

I see on viagogo that there are some seats in the upper tier, rows in the high 80's! Wow, it looks like they really did sell out the Stade de France this time. What an amazing event - leave for the airport in about 7 hours - can't wait.

Agreed, it's just clickbait, they already did this on the Bridges tour, and the vote-counting process would make Robert Mugabe blush.

BTW, there's an SNCF and taxi strike here in Paris (naturellement), so allow extra time to/from CDG and anywhere else.

Where did you read that? Unfortunately we won't know for Friday until sometime tomorrow as the unions vote daily to continue or stop the strike, this site seems to be updated frequently : [lci.tf1.fr]

Of interest for the Stade de France are the RER B and RER D and they're running at the rate of 1 train every 10 minutes and 1 every 15 minutes tomorrow. Not sure what would happen on Friday night if the strike were to continue, they normally run as many trains as they can to get people out of the area. Another option would be the Métro Ligne 13 as it is running normally (RATP) but the "throughput" is lower.

At least the weather forecast looks good! Slightly below +24 C and partly cloudy.

Wrapping up my Berlin trip and flying out to Paris tomorrow afternoon.

See here for the previsions for all the trains:

But it can change because there are negociations this evening. These strikes are really annoying... yawning smiley

I was there in 1998. The web "choice" was Paint it Black. Great gig though...
