I'd rather walk back and cool off, instead of the waiting and being crammed into a train.
You'll sleep like a log... if you manage to get back to your hotel in one piece. St.Denis (the city) is bad at night and the northern area of Paris (the one you'll walk thru to get back to Gare du Nord) is the worst of the City Of Light.
So you might reconsider.
Personnally I wouldn't do it.
@MingSubu: listen to dcba, he is completely right, don't do it!!!
RER is not totally affected, and the metro is all right.

Why not? Bad area? If it's the distance, I can do 5K standing on my head.
Area between St. Denis and Gar du Nord is a little scary after dark.

Just scary, or is it bad?

It is bad, Bjornulf...
Ming if you want to take a long walk after the show take line 13 (like everyone else) get off at Champs-Elysées and walk home to Gare du Nord.
It'll long (3 hrs) but it'll be nice and safe : the Champs, Concorde, the Louvre etc etc. You won't get in trouble there
And if you feel tired, you can take a Noctilien night bus back to Gare du Nord.

I don't know enough, but a walk from Stade de France to Gar Du Nord takes you through the 18th and 10th Arrondissements - those areas feel dangerous to me, but you'd have to ask others. I have no problem during the day, but have never walked around after dark.
