Last night I've been in Langstrasse: good bars, red light Girls, not very bad Music depending which bar you are in, .... a lot of fun.

I saw the Stones plane at the Airport .

Didn't see any Stones T Shirts around....
Hope today the streets are full of them ....

like this people find the information. under "travel infos" they get lost.
it took me some time to write it down, so it would be really kind to leave it here. just for 2 days. thanks alot!cool smiley

i checked out the best places in my little city for the last 40 years. and for those who arrive today or stay longer i just wanna give you some ideas what to do.

touristc stuff & shopping:

in the side-streets of langstrasse , the so called redlight district, you find alot of nice shops, little parks and the flea-market on helvetiaplatz.

a walk around the lake-side is always nice. the view is terrific and you see the snow-mountains. it's still cold but you can swim in the lake and even drink the water!

walk through the old town form bellevue to central or check out the view from "lindenhof". the place where over 2000 years ago the romans settled down.

rent a pedalo on the lake.

go to the top of the uetliberg and walk down (30-40 minutes), terrific view!

bars

rock oriented bars, all at or around langstrasse:

matahari (nice tiki-bar with good muscic)
acapulco (you can sit outside)
kinski (with smoking lounge, in the style of an old opium den)
sansibar (rock a billy music and cheep drinks)
bar 63 (for rum lovers)

restaurants:

italian food: "cinque", very cool looking napels-style restaurant. good food
indian: "kobalt", cute little place with an nice owner
asian: lilys at langstrasse. asian-fast-food but really good quality.
tipical swiss food: gambrinus or aargauerhof, both at langstrasse.

classic and a bit more expensive: kronnenhalle at bellevue (it also has a really nice and classy bar)

enjoy the stones in the little big city!

I will arrive with the last flight tonight. Johanniter at 7:30 will probably be too early for me because I have to go to the Hotel (Crown Plaza - next to the stadium) and then back into the center of town.

I would like to meet at 9:30 or 10 somewhere for drinks. Is there a set meeting place for IOORers after dinner? A bar? The Altstadt is a large area and there are tons of bars so without a set location it will be impossible to meet. And what about tomorrow? I have "Golden Circle tickets...in case we miss each other tonight, is there a meeting place in that area...? Or a special IORR Flag?! (ha ha)

I am at Langsters bar in Langstrasse area at the moment.

Not too far from my hotel which is in Limmatstrasse which is just on other side of railway line.

If anyone sees this post it would be great to meet up after you have your meal and get to the area.
Saw the posts about a meal tonight.

Only been here since late morning and getting to know my way around. winking smiley

Saw Charlie too today - in Zurich. I was wondering who that young blond woman was… His niece, maybe?

I was told his grand daughter is the very attractive young lady escorting him everywhere, so far on the European Tour.

His graddaughter is a big fan and she asked nicely to follow Charlie on tour. I am happpy for her she has got great parents... I don't think Charlie needs an escorte, anyway, he has got personal security on this tour, very unusual for him, he made it without security for 43 years or so, up to (but not including) the previous tour.

Perhaps, like many older people, now that he is into his 70's Charlie feels more vulnerable in crowds. I am glad to see that he has security looking out for him.

Thanks for the pics, great to see the band gearing up and out enjoying themselves. Have a great time, everyone!

As much as I love this band but now they have overstreched it. I remember the first concert I saw from them, I snachted up all my money to see them, I was a school kid then - 20 years ago. Yes there is inflation but Switzerland does not have hyperinflation as far as I am concerned. Do not mix it up with Zimbawbe smiling smiley. Yes Switzerland is an expensive country. I grew up here but this is just a lame excuse to rip people off in terms of these tickets prices.

Nowadays I could afford it easily but I am not willing to pay these prices. I'd rather go for a nice weekend with my wife for the value of this money. The ticket prices are just outrages. I saw Ennio Morricone in the Hallenstadion in the first row (seatted) this year in Zürich. He was there with 160 orchestra members and we paid CHF 150,00 per ticket. Probably the promoter/organiser thinks that there are enough rich idiots in Switzerland to pay these prices. I don't care how much the prices were in other places but this is a rip off.
