It is all in your mind. What you want to see. They bring in two or three packs of Marlboro before show start. Nicely positioned in front of Charlie' drum kit on Keith side. Then the Stones play for 2 hours. Keith don't touch those cigarettes for two hours, except for when he is doing his own set. Then he is picking one - 1 - cigarette - for half a minute - then he is throwing it on stage and start playing. It is a gimmick. For his image. What you want to see. Then everybody is telling about the heavy smoker Keith.
If Keith was such a heavy smoker. How come he can be on stage for two hours and then just toss out the cigarette without even enjoying it? I have seen most of their shows lately and this is the procedure every time.
NYC has got a law against smoking I think. When the Stones played the HBO show in Jan 2003 Keith did his usual cigarette stunt on stage, and the new NYC mayor saw it, got mad and tried to stop the show. In vain of course.
The press conference lasted for may be half an hour. 15 minutes live. Then a break of half an hour. Keith could have lots of smokes if he was desperate for it. Then the PC itself - may be 15 minutes.
The fact is people don't smoke in public anymore. You don't smoke in hotel lobbys, check-in queues, elevators, public buildings or other places where normal people are around. Except for Copenhagen airport and some other rare places I go to, most places where I travel are smoke free. Even concerts. Welcome to the 21st century!

I wonder how many people here thought this was a gay thread upon first look at the title?

Keith was fined for smoking on stage in Glasgow in 2003 and made headlines for breaking the smoking ban at the first O2 show in 2007. He escaped a fine that time but as I remember he then ate a cigarette on stage at one of the next two shows there! Anyone else remember that?
