The Song "Exile on Main Street" Origin

Does anyone know the orgin, when or where the song "Exile on Main Street" was recorded? I've heard a scratchy 1 minute recording on a bootleg a couple of times and the lyrics are comprised of titles from the album. As best I can remember it starts something like..."Exile on Main Street, strange street we walk down. Exile on Main Street, starnge street we walk down. Let it loose, let it come on down". I can't remember anything else. Can anyone add to this in any way, shape or form???

Wasn't it a promo Flexi disc that came attached to an issue of the NME?

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong...

It was given away with the April 29 1972 edition of the NME

You're shure about M.Express/Holland? As far as I remember it's only been in the NME. (edit: at least it wasn't in the German edition of M.Express.)
I got it back in those days and I loved that medley.

Yes. I discovered it for the first time in that Black Box collection, and yet I KNOW I would have bought that issue of NME, and must have this somewhere. My long-term memory seems to be going the way of my short-term memory. confused smiley

Complete lyrics taken as "Intro to Exile on Main Street' from a lyrics book I 'inherited' from my brother. No publishing notes are given, it has all songs from the beginning plus "including Goat's Head Soup".

Exile on Main Street, it's a strange street to walk down
now let it loose, now come on, let it all hang down
eh, round up those people, move them out of town
gimme Little drink from your lovin' cup
now shake your hip mama, keep me all shook up
feelin' so doggone happy like a natural child
oh help me do the boogie all down the line
come on Virginia, let's shoot some dice
my sweet black angel, shine a little light
Exile on main street, it's a low down dirty ground

Is it Jagger on piano? And I assume it's a Jagger/Richards composition yeah?

I first heard it on the bootleg @#$%& Blues in the early 80s and wondered why it didn't make the album cut maybe slipped in somewhere at the end of one of the four sides ala "Her majesty" on Abbey Road.
