As I stated in my previous post, they could play the Orchard theatre. I walked past it the other day and noticed that the Countifeit Stones are playing there soon. They're on their Burboun Jungle Tour, ha ha

Sheryl Crow made a guest appearance during HTW at the UK 99 shows.
And, it's probably Dave Mathews you mean.

AS Erik says, Dave Matthews it was. Sheryl did open at the 5 UK shows in '99 but also joined them onstage for HTW at every show except the opening one in Edinburgh

What exactly is the Mick Jagger Centre? Is it part of Dartford Grammer?

It's funny, when I used to live in Welling, I used to go past the hospital where Mick and Keith were born on the bus to the Bluewater shopping centre.

I only realised this the other day.

I think so...its the centre that Mick opened (and I think financed) about 5 years ago. Quite a bit of TV coverage at the time of him going back to his old school.

There will be two UK legs to the European tour next year, at the start and end of the Europe leg of the tour. The club gigs will be at the back end of the tour, the initial gig/s with be to open the new Wembley, so expect the rest of the UK to be services in late summer, so abot 15 months before they hit the UK proper.

that would be ideal!

Summer in this country?

No seriously they would have to have the weather in mind i hope, and i take it wembley wouldent be the only stadiun gig so it would have to be around august imho.

Club gigs i suppose the nec in birmingham would be considered too big for a club gig? surely they wont pick manchester again not that im knocking manchester as i had a good time up there and even met bobby keys in the hotel afterwards and the rest of the stones hotel rooms were in the next section to us. <so close but so far>

Hello,

I have to say that I agree with Sherer's post. As someone born and brought up in London, I never get the feeling that home is particularly important to The Stones anymore. People might well say that when you can have your pick of where to live and have been to some of the world's most glamorous places, your place of birth loses some of it's importance for you. This may well be true, but I think that the band could at least try to make a gesture to their British fans, perhaps by playing a few extra club shows, or even with their demeanour when they're on-stage here.

I've seen fans on message boards talk about how it would be their dream to see The Stones play in London. My advice would be to forget it - it's no different from any other show.

Declan

P.S. I live 5 minutes from the Ealing Club. Some chance of them playing there again.......

I agree with DD unless they think we are all europeans now as i always thought they would push the boat out a bit more for uk gigs.

Hey Maverick,

Thanks for all this info, very helpful. Having seen them a few times at Wembley Stadium, catching the Stones from the 5th row at Wembley Arena last time was a whole new experience, especially as I was on Keith's side. After that, I wasn't too bothered that I missed out on the Astoria.

As for the comments about London being just another gig, remember that becoming the hippest group in London was a big thing for Brian Jones, but for Mick and Keith, it was just their town, they were far more interested in making it in the US.

The Stones European tour for next year scheduling is really dependant on the new Wembley opening, as the Stones are to be the first band to play there, there are awaiting confirmation of when the stadium will be ready for before they can confirm the schedule for next summer.

well next year's cup final is going to be there and that will be May so a gig in July \ August will be ok..

just hope they are able to pull out all the stops and put on a really decent show for what is their home gig

Re: UK gigs

next years cup final isnt confirmed yet for Wembley - its only subject to the stadium being ready in time, which isnt definite yet

knowing this country's level of incompetence on the organisation front and with overspending (see The Millennium Dome), anything is possible

Anyone mentioned twickers again??

Re: UK gigs
Posted by: sherer ()
Date: May 23, 2005 13:12

wouldn't do twickers.. the view was good but the sound wasn't

see you point about wmbley.. after 800 million you can't expect a stadium to be ready on time

So Maverick, remember this post you made?:

"I got a bit torrent of the new album sessions, about 20 songs, 3 or 4 of which are very good, as I said a few blues, Keith doing a couple of ballads (Apt no 9 being one of them) a couple of typical album filler type tracks, Juding by the tracks it seems it will sound like a cross between Dirty Work and Voodoo Lounge."

We are still waiting for where to get this torrent.
It´s not spread anywhere as far as I can see, maybe you could be of help?

Watch out for an seris of UK club gigs next year, due to take place in August about 5 gigs, 3 in London (different venues), 1 in Manchester, 1 in Glasgow.

Re: UK gigs
Posted by: Gazza ()

is that to make up for the ones that were promised in 1999?

excuse my scepticism. The band is unlikely to do as many as 5 shows around the rest of the world on this tour, yet they'll do that many in the UK?

I wont hold my breath

Re: UK gigs

It's all guess work.

If they charge anywhere near US prices, they'll be lucky to fill Wembley for 2 nights.

Yes those 99 "arena shows in the provencies" must have been bulls**t .

So Maverick, welcome back, we are still waiting to hear where we can find the download of the new album. It´s about time don´t you think?
Please enlighten us.
If you still think this is the wrong thread, please follow the link to the original thread, we all look forward to your answer. It can´t be so hard to post a link to the torrent?

Mythomaniac = "an individual affected with or exhibiting mythomania" [www.fasthealth.com]

"The mythomaniac emphasizes something trite among human beings, the lie. He is not an awaked dreamer, he is not delirious, but, caught in the blur of his own image, he has to create stories inceasingly, failing to be able to assume this image. On that common foundation, it's possible to describe some variations." [psydoc-fr.broca.inserm.fr]
