Probably be Symphoney hall no doubt in Birmingham if it's a small gig, ot the NEC area for an indoor show, although Villa Park has hosted a few concerts in the past, Rod Stewart and more impressive Bruce Springsteen.

Lets hope its the NEC then, due to good contacts.

Wow !

WHAT a thread ? It's taken me 4 hours to follow it through from beginning to end. Fascinating, we have all the necessary ingredients for a rollicking good read. To name but a few:

Truths
Half truths
Exaggerations
Slight exaggerations
Massive exaggerations
Complete and utter bollocks
Likes
Dislikes
Suspicions
Grave suspicions
Pathological hatreds

Er ......... anything I've missed ?

And after all of it, I'm none the bloody wiser about who is playing where, when or any of the rest of it ???

&^%% it, I'm takin' the afternoon off and goin' to read the paper !

Monkeytonkman the NEC is about six miles from me, how far for you?.

It would just be nice to have a local place, could be a strange feeling to have a few brummies in watching the stones!

Plus save me a few quid on hotel & transport costs thou.

Re: UK gigs

I guess that would be the only down point of a Birmingham gig, to many Brummies!!!

But the Stones are planning there most expansive UK tour for over 30 years so Birmingham may be in luck, it seems that way at the moment, just don't know the size of gig?

Re: UK gigs

Looks like it's the NEC for Birmingham, no club gig.

"Apparently a Birmingham show is being considered for next year to, now there's a first! Well for 30 years anyway!"

ABOUT @#$%& TIME TOO!

in terms of Arena's, the NEC is as good, if not better than most

in terms of Club's, the Academy is one of the best in the country

in terms of Stadium's, Villa Park is up there with the best the country can offer

in terms of Shed's, there's a small sty in small heath that will do for parking the trucks yawning smiley)

COME BACK TO BRUM YOU BASTARDS !!!

nowt wrong with being proud of your past Odeon73

unfortunately, you need to have one to be proud of in order for it to work

however, i'm not sure you can dine out much on the back of a Leyland Daf final

The UK will be the only country getting a number of theatre shows on the Bigger Bang tour.

Odean 73

I'm from Rugby mate, just down the road really 'bout half hour on the train.

My mates and me often take the train to Birmingham for the day for a few beers, then get back to International for the gig.

Do you go drinking round birmingham? places I usually hang out are Costas - my favourite watering hole in the city and Scruffy Murphyy's

Anyone else here got any gigs lined up for the midlands soon?
off the top of my head I'm going to these

Waysted - Jb's Dudley
Gov't Mule - Brum Academy
Billy Idol - Woverhampton
Dio - Academy
Dragonforce - Wolves

Few others I'm sure but can't remember.

anyhoo - Keep on rockin!!

Hi Monkeyman,

Due to working in the city centre usually have a drink up town around brindley place & summer row <stupid prices thou> cant place where costas is thou.

Dont do many concerts these days, used to go to loads of concerts when i was in my teens but unfortunately a wedding, mortgage, bills etc get in the way and to be honest will only go to see a few groups these days and obviously waiting for the stones next year, hopefully two - three times.

Awesome dude,

let me know where your checking the stones out next year, we can hook up and have a beer.

I've got bought myself a VW camper van, and am planning to tour round Europe next summer taking in a good few countries and concerts as I can - Pretty lucky 'cus i'm a lectuerer at the local college which affords me next summer to chase the boys over the mainland.

BTW - costas is just around the corner from the birmingham academy, you have to go down stairs, has a huge lapping tongue painted on the wall as you enter - it's a good rock pub if thats your thing.

anyway mate, have a good 'un and keep on rocking!

Hi Monkeyman,

I also work at a college but unfortunately dont get the summer off, in fact our holiday entitlement is pretty crap.

Will definatly get in touch about next years concerts, also hope to do one in europe as well.

Will take a look at costas.

Europen tour is to end in London this time.

Re: UK gigs

isn't the plan, to begin and end tour , at new Wembley?

Re: UK gigs
Posted by: Gazza ()

No.

and you cant plan where the Stones are going to end a tour so far in advance.

Every Stones tour that I can remember has ended up with shows rearranged, cancelled and extra ones added at the end even after the European tour has got underway.

Re: UK gigs
Posted by: The Maverick ()

Yes the European tour is palnned to start and end at Wembley. The opening show will be the first concert staged at the stadium and ending with a show there, when they do the UK leg of the tour in August.

Re: UK gigs

Euro tour is slated to begin in May.

They cant use Wembley for concerts until after the FA Cup final which will on the 13th of May 2006 (it was confirmed yesterday that the stadium WILL be ready in time) which will basically only leave two weekends free later in May for anything else...and they will also need it for the various play off finals for the lower divisions of the Football League which take place later in the month

I would imagine England would want to use it for a warm-up match or two for the World Cup as well. Cant see the stadium being available for concerts prior to June

I agree, first show of European tour will be there, June?? But the UK tour will be in August.

Yeah, the UK tour will end in August. Mick J just called me on my cell phone and confirmed it. He asked me if there was a bastard called Maverick on IORR web site who claimed he'd found a bittorrent of the complete A Bigger Bang album a long time ago. He said he hates them liars big time.

To be inflicted with jealousy is a terrible thing!!!

Why would you wanty to listen to a demo copy of Bigger Bang when you can hear the real thing next month anyway?
